The Selection - By: Kiera Cass

My Rating:
Book Description:
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined

My Thoughts:
I really really enjoyed this book! I couldn't put it down! I was mad to find out it's a series though, and I can't believe I'm saying this but it's a love triangle and I am kinda tired of that, but I'm Team Prince. Ok this is after WWIV I believe and we are now in a Monarchy (different from the usual United States has fallen and we are now in a "Utopian" society type thing) and if you are born a Prince, you marry from your country and if you are born a Princess you are auctioned off to marry other countries to keep alliances (like in Monarchies of old).
I like the main character America, I like her strong will and total dislike for this Selection and her desire to NOT become the next Princess. I like how she has a temper and red hair.
I didn't like the love triangle simply because I wanted this to NOT be a series and this could've ended nicely if only...you know...
It will be interesting to see how this plays out and what will America do in regards to the threats toward the royal family and how this love triangle will play out. Honestly I'm predicting that the other guy will die and America will end up with the Prince...
