[News] 2PM delays September comeback

Fans of 2PM will unfortunately have to wait a bit longer for the group’s comeback.

2PM previously mentioned news of a September comeback. However, due to the recent controversy surrounding member Nichkhun, 2PM had to stand on stage as a five-member group during the ‘JYP Nation‘ concerts and also had to juggle changes to their comeback date. Nichkhun halted his activities to take some time to reflect on himself before returning to his fans and the public. A fixed comeback date has not been decided as of yet.

A representative of JYP Entertainment revealed, “Nichkhun is still taking the time to reflect on himself at the dorm. He has feelings of deep regret and is self-reflecting on his actions.

four unreleased lana del rey songs

four unreleased lana del rey songs - Four unreleased Lana Del Rey songs have emerged: Hear them here, Well, this was an unexpected surprise.
The Internet has dug up four — count ‘em, four! — previously unheard Lana Del Rey songs, all as-yet unreleased. Del Rey’s major-label debut, last spring’s Born to Die, is getting an expanded “Paradise edition” rerelease this fall, so that’s likely the source of these tracks.
One of the cuts, “Ghetto Baby,” is actually a demo of a song Del Rey wrote for Cheryl Cole, but, honestly, we might prefer this version better. Then there’s “Summer of Sam,” a more fun-and-breezy number with a playful bounce and those classic braggy Del Rey lyrics (“I’m the baddest girl in NYC” and “I be murderin’ ‘em,” says the self-proclaimed gangsta Nancy Sinatra). But “Serial Killer” has the best chance of pleasing fans who love Lana for those cinematic “Video Games”-type songs, while “Ooh Baby” is probably our least favorite of the bunch, with the singer’s vocal style slipping into that faux-sex kitten whine that irked many Born to Die listeners.

Lana Del Rey becomes the new face of Jaguar

Lana Del Rey becomes the new face of Jaguar - Lana Del Rey has signed a deal with Jaguar to become the face of their new sports car.

The singer has signed a six-figure deal to launch their brand's new F-Type vehicle, according to The Sun. The collaboration will be officially unveiled in Paris next month.

Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, said: Jaguar’s allure is in large part due to its unique blend of authenticity and modernity, two values we believe are shared with Lana in her professional achievements.

Del Rey is also currently appearing in new advertising campaigns for Swedish fashion brand H&M. In the commercials for autumn she models items including a Pink angora sweater, floral print leggings, a range of pastel knits, leather trousers and cinched-waist tops.

H&M will also release a Johan Renck-directed video of her covering Bobby Vinton's 1963 track 'Blue Velvet' as part of the campaign. It will be released in full on H&M's website on September 19, and a condensed version of the short will later air as a television commercial.

Del Rey is to appear at London's iTunes Festival six days later. Noel Gallagher, Mumford and Sons and Jack White will also appear at the month long event.

Tickets for each gig are all given away from the event's official website. See itunesfestival.com for full details on how to get them.

Jaguar F-type Will Offer a Manual Transmission, As Will Other Future Jags

Jaguar F-type Will Offer a Manual Transmission, As Will Other Future Jags - Jaguar won’t just save the manuals, it’s set to resurrect several. The F-type sports car launches next spring with an eight-speed automatic, but a high-level source at Jaguar tells us that a stick will be introduced later on. We get the impression that the manual may be deployed just for a particular engine or trim level, rather than as an across-the-board option. It also wouldn’t surprise us if only the enthusiast-targeted F-type coupes were offered with the manual, and not roadsters.

Better still, the F-type isn’t the only Jag with a stick in its future, our source says: At least one car planned for the all-new Jaguar platform currently in development also will offer a manual gearbox. That’s just the kind of circumstantial evidence we need to imagine a 3-series–sized Jaguar sedan, which has otherwise not been confirmed.

Lana Del Rey Age & Bio

Lana Del Rey Age & Bio - Elizabeth Woolridge Grant (born June 21, 1986), better known by her stage name Lana Del Rey, is an American singer-songwriter. Born in New York City and raised in Lake Placid, Del Rey moved back to her hometown at age 18, where she attended Fordham University and began writing music and performing in clubs. She signed her first recording contract when she was 21 years old with 5 Points Records, releasing her first digital album Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant in January 2010.

Del Rey bought herself out of her contract with 5 Points Records in April 2010 and signed to Stranger Records to release her debut single “Video Games” in June 2011. Del Rey signed a joint deal with Interscope and Polydor in July 2011, where she released her second studio album Born to Die in January 2012. She is currently recording tracks for her “Paradise” edition reissue of Born to Die which will feature seven new tracks and will be released in November 2012.

Del Rey’s music has been noted for its cinematic sound and its references to various aspects of pop culture, particularly that of 1950s and ’60s Americana. The singer has been described as a “self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra”. Del Rey is also signed to NEXT Model Management.

stand up to cancer telethon

stand up to cancer telethon - An A-list cast of celebrities is joining a telethon to raise money and awareness to fight cancer. Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Samuel L. Jackson and Emma Stone are among the stars participating in the third Stand Up to Cancer telethon, the organization announced Wednesday.

Paltrow also is an executive producer for the fundraiser that will be carried commercial-free from 8-9 p.m. EDT Sept. 7 on the four major broadcast networks, ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC, and more than a dozen cable channels.

Musical performances by Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Alicia Keys and Tim McGraw are planned, and more than 25 movie, TV and sports stars will be on hand to take phone pledges, said executive producer Joel Gallen.

Laura Ziskin, founder of Stand Up to Cancer and producer of its first two telethons in 2008 and 2010, lost her seven-year fight against breast cancer last year. The "Spider-Man" movie producer was 61.

Ziskin represents "tremendous shoes to fill," Gallen said. "I can't really replace Laura, but I'm coming from a different point of view, from a respectful point of view, and continuing the mission she was on."

Hope is the theme for this year's telethon, Gallen said. It will include information on how to prevent cancer and on the treatment research funded by Stand Up to Cancer, also known as SU2C.

The experiences of several patients who are part of Stand Up to Cancer trials will be explored in mini-documentaries that show the progress made in just a few years of effort, Gallen said.

The organization said it has awarded about $120 million in grant commitments to multidisciplinary research "Dream Teams" and to scientists seeking innovative approaches to end cancer's role as the world's leading cause of death.

Of the $180 million-plus that has been pledged, some larger donations are being made over a period of several years, a spokeswoman said.

Katie Couric, who joined with Ziskin and other women in the entertainment industry to found Stand Up to Cancer, will appear in the telethon. Others taking part include Jessica Biel, Jeremy Renner, Seth Rogan, Masi Oka, Simon Baker and Rashida Jones.

Couric lost her husband to colon cancer, while Paltrow's late father, director Bruce Paltrow, had oral cancer. Some participants, such as Michael Douglas, have fought the disease themselves.

Cable channels carrying the telethon are BIO, Encore, HBO, Showtime, HBO Latino, ION Television, LMN, Logo, MLB Network, mun2, Palladia, Starz, TBS, Smithsonian and VH1.

Stand Up To Cancer, which also receives corporate donations, is a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the TV and movie industries.

The American Association for Cancer Research is the scientific partner of Stand Up To Cancer and conducts scientific oversight of its research projects in conjunction with the SU2C advisory committee.

how to protect skin from skin cancer

how to protect skin from skin cancer - Protection from ultraviolet (UV) radiation is important all year round, not just during the summer or at the beach. UV rays from the sun can reach you on cloudy and hazy days, as well as bright and sunny days. UV rays also reflect off of surfaces like water, cement, sand, and snow. Indoor tanning exposes users to UV radiation.

The hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. daylight savings time (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. standard time) are the most hazardous for UV exposure outdoors in the continental United States. UV rays from sunlight are the greatest during the late spring and early summer in North America.

CDC recommends easy options for protection from UV radiation—

Seek shade, especially during midday hours.
Wear clothing to protect exposed skin.
Wear a hat with a wide brim to shade the face, head, ears, and neck.
Wear sunglasses that wrap around and block as close to 100% of both UVA and UVB rays as possible.
Use sunscreen with sun protective factor (SPF) 15 or higher, and both UVA and UVBUVA and UVB protection.
Avoid indoor tanning.

Shade
You can reduce your risk of skin damage and skin cancer by seeking shade under an umbrella, tree, or other shelter before you need relief from the sun. Your best bet to protect your skin is to use sunscreen or wear protective clothing when you’re outside-even when you’re in the shade.

Clothing
Loose-fitting long-sleeved shirts and long pants made from tightly woven fabric offer the best protection from the sun’s UV rays. A wet T-shirt offers much less UV protection than a dry one. Darker colors may offer more protection than lighter colors.

If wearing this type of clothing isn’t practical, at least try to wear a T-shirt or a beach cover-up. Keep in mind that a typical T-shirt has an SPF rating lower than 15, so use other types of protection as well.

Hats
For the most protection, wear a hat with a brim all the way around that shades your face, ears, and the back of your neck. A tightly woven fabric, such as canvas, works best to protect your skin from UV rays. Avoid straw hats with holes that let sunlight through. A darker hat may offer more UV protection.

If you wear a baseball cap, you should also protect your ears and the back of your neck by wearing clothing that covers those areas, using sunscreen with at least SPF 15, or by staying in the shade.

Sunglasses
Sunglasses protect your eyes from UV rays and reduce the risk of cataracts. They also protect the tender skin around your eyes from sun exposure.

Sunglasses that block both UVA and UVB rays offer the best protection. Most sunglasses sold in the United States, regardless of cost, meet this standard. Wrap-around sunglasses work best because they block UV rays from sneaking in from the side.

Sunscreen
The sun’s UV rays can damage your skin in as little as 15 minutes. Put on sunscreen before you go outside, even on slightly cloudy or cool days. Don’t forget to put a thick layer on all parts of exposed skin. Get help for hard-to-reach places like your back.

The United States Food and Drug Administration has announced significant changes to sunscreen product labels that will help consumers decide how to buy and use sunscreen, and allow them to protect themselves and their families from sun-induced damage more effectively.

How sunscreen works. Most sun protection products work by absorbing, reflecting, or scattering sunlight. They contain chemicals that interact with the skin to protect it from UV rays. All products do not have the same ingredients; if your skin reacts badly to one product, try another one or call a doctor.

SPF. Sunscreens are assigned a sun protection factor (SPF) number that rates their effectiveness in blocking UV rays. Higher numbers indicate more protection. You should use a sunscreen with at least SPF 15.

Reapplication. Sunscreen wears off. Put it on again if you stay out in the sun for more than two hours, and after you swim or do things that make you sweat.

Expiration date. Check the sunscreen’s expiration date. Sunscreen without an expiration date has a shelf life of no more than three years, but its shelf life is shorter if it has been exposed to high temperatures.

Cosmetics. Some make-up and lip balms contain some of the same chemicals used in sunscreens. If they do not have at least SPF 15, don’t use them by themselves.

Avoid Indoor Tanning
Using a tanning bed, booth, or sunlamp to get tan is called “indoor tanningindoor tanning.” Indoor tanning has been linked with skin cancers including melanoma (the deadliest type of skin cancer), squamous cell carcinoma, and cancers of the eye (ocular melanoma).

celebrity cancer survivors

celebrity cancer survivors - Celebrity cancer survivors, 10 Inspiring Stories About stars cancer survivors, Curing cancer is the new A-list obsession, and leading the charge are many of Hollywood’s highest-profile women who have battled the disease. See which survivors are sharing their stories in the hopes of finding a cure.

Christina Applegate
In July 2008, Christina underwent a double mastectomy after doctors found cancerous lumps in one of her breasts. On Good Morning America, the Samantha Who star credited her mother, a repeat breast cancer survivor, with inspiring her to have the strength to make the decision. She also plans to start a foundation to raise money that will help high-risk patients cover the cost of an MRI that may detect cancer in even very dense breasts. Of having reconstructive surgery, she added, “And you know, I’m going to have cute boobs till I’m 90.”

Sheryl Crow
The rocker’s 2006 battle with breast cancer caused her to reevaluate her life; she adopted a baby, Wyatt, the following year. “I had this clear picture of what my life was going to look like: I’m going to get married and have kids,” she told Glamour. “You create your mythology, but sometimes it’s based on a perception that isn’t the truth about you. Having cancer made me say, ‘OK, what is it I want from my life?’ I thought, If I want to be a mom, there are kids out there that need moms. I think you choose your family. And I did.”

Sharon Osbourne
As seen on the MTV series The Osbournes, Sharon is all for full disclosure, and her 2002 fight against colorectal cancer was no exception. Through early detection, minor surgery and chemotherapy, she recovered, but in a 2003 interview with USA Today, she admitted, “People don’t want to discuss colon cancer. There is no ribbon for it. When I was better, my kids were joking, ‘Mum, why did you have to get colon cancer? Couldn’t it have been something else? Why there? This is so typical of you.’” All kidding aside, Ozzy’s wife went on to found the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program, which provides at-home help, transportation and more to patients with the illness.

Cynthia Nixon
On Sex and the City, it was Samantha who had the breast cancer storyline (who can forget her pink Lil’ Kim wig?). After the series wrapped, however, it was Miranda who was diagnosed in real life in 2006. Before SATC: The Movie premiered, Cynthia disclosed her secret fight (she had even scheduled her lumpectomy on a Sunday so it wouldn’t conflict with her play at the time) with the disease on Good Morning America. Since the announcement, she has signed on to be an ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a breast cancer foundation.

Edie Falco
A mob boss’s wife can handle just about anything—including breast cancer. Edie, of The Sopranos, kept her 2003 struggle with the disease secret from her castmates. “I kept my diagnosis under the radar, even from the cast and crew, because well-meaning people would have driven me crazy asking, ‘How are you feeling?’ I would have wanted to say, ‘I’m scared, I don’t feel so good, and my hair is falling out!’” she told Health magazine. “I bucked up, put on my Carmela fingernails and was ready to work.”

Melissa Etheridge
Melissa didn’t let breast cancer stop her from belting Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart” at the 2005 Grammys. Bald. “I remember when I finally made the choice,” she said on Dateline NBC. “Yeah, I’m going to do it bald. And you know what? Maybe this’ll help somebody who’s sitting on chemo, laying in bed and going, ‘God, I’m bald.’ Isn’t this weird? Maybe it’ll help them feel a little better. I didn’t know to what extent that would happen. But I’m honored [that the song had such an impact].”

Suzanne Somers
During a routine mammogram in April 2000, radiologists found a malignant tumor in Suzanne’s breast. The following year she told America about the cancer on Larry King Live: “I was in such shock,” she said about the diagnosis. “I’m very strong, and I was in such shock, because I have always taken care of myself, and I just thought it would never happen to me. But I think that is what everybody thinks—it won’t happen to them.” Suzanne’s decision to forgo chemotherapy in favor of conventional radiation treatment and the homeopathic therapy Iscador—a mistletoe extract—has been widely debated, but the TV star stands by her choice.

Kylie Minogue
The singer postponed the Australian leg of her 2005 Showgirl tour to undergo immediate treatment for breast cancer. After an 18-month fight, she went into remission and resumed her tour. In 2008, the pop star discussed her first diagnosis (or lack thereof) on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I was misdiagnosed initially,” she said. “So my message to all of you and everyone at home is, because someone is in a white coat and using big medical instruments doesn’t necessarily mean they are right.”

Olivia Newton-John
The Grease gal’s 1992 successful fight against breast cancer inspired her to speak out about it—and her life at that time—through her album Gaia, One Woman’s Journey. Additionally, in honor of her work to raise public awareness of the disease and her creation of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia, she was presented with the Marianne Williamson Founder’s Award in August 2008. The Olivia Breast Self-Exam Kit is scheduled to go on sale in October at liv.com.

Jaclyn Smith
When doctors found a cancerous lump in the former Charlie’s Angels star and current Shear Genius judge’s breast, she relied on the support of her girlfriends and told CNN one friend who’d survived breast cancer was particularly helpful. “She’d been there and could say, ‘Hey, look at me now. I’m on the other side of it.’” Jaclyn is dedicated to helping other women. She toured the country with the educational program Strength in Knowing: The Facts and Fiction of Breast Cancer Risk.

tea extract 40 skin cancer tumors

tea extract 40 skin cancer tumors - Tea extract 40 skin cancer tumors, The green tea extract made 40 per cent of skin cancer tumours disappear in the lab study, The University of Strathclyde team made 40 per cent of human skin cancer tumours disappear using the compound, in a laboratory study.

Green tea has long been suspected of having anti-cancer properties and the extract, called epigallocatechin gallate, has been investigated before.

However, this is the first time researchers have managed to make it effective at shrinking tumours.

Previous attempts to capitalise on its cancer-fighting properties have failed because scientists used intravenous drips, which failed to deliver enough of the extract to the tumours themselves.

So, the Strathclyde team devised a “targeted delivery system”, piggy-backing the extract on proteins that carry iron molecules, which cancer tumours Hoover up.

The lab test on one type of human skin cancer showed 40 per cent of tumours disappeared after a month of treatment, while an additional 30 per cent shrank.

Dr Christine Dufès, a senior lecturer at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, who led the research, said: “These are very encouraging results which we hope could pave the way for new and effective cancer treatments.

“When we used our method, the green tea extract reduced the size of many of the tumours every day, in some cases removing them altogether.

"By contrast, the extract had no effect at all when it was delivered by other means, as every one of these tumours continued to grow.

“This research could open doors to new treatments for what is still one of the biggest killer diseases in many countries.”

She added: “I was expecting good results, but not as strong as these.”

Dr Dufès said population studies had previously indicated that green tea had anti-cancer properties, and scientists had since identified the active compound as epigallocatechin gallate.

But the Strathclyde researchers were the first to delivery it in high enough doses to tumours to have an effect.

She explained: “The problems with this extract is that when it’s administered intravenously, it goes everywhere in the body, so when it gets to the tumours it’s too diluted.

“With the targeted delivery system, it’s taken straight to the tumours without any effect on normal tissue.”

Cancer scientists are increasingly using targeted delivery to improve results, relying on the many different ‘receptors’ that tumours have for different biological substances.

In this instance, the scientists used the fact that tumours have receptors for transferrin, a plasma protein which transports iron through the blood.

The results have been published in the journal Nanomedicine.

The “ultimate objective” was a clinical trial in humans - but Dr Dufès said that was some way off.

“We have got to optimise the delivery system and therapeutic effect first,” she said.

Dr Julie Sharp, from Cancer Research UK, said: “A few studies have shown that extracts from green tea may have some effect on cancer cells in the lab but this has not yet been backed up by research in humans.”

She added: “It’s far too soon to say if enjoying a cup of green tea has any wider benefits in combating cancer but we know that a healthy balanced diet can help to reduce the risk.”

skin cancer types

skin cancer types - Skin cancers are malignant growths on the skin. They mostly arise from the upper layer of the skin – epidermis. Skin cancers may develop anywhere on the skin, including the scalp, lips or under-nail skin.

Skin cancers are most common after 50 years of age, but they may occur at any time.

Any chronic skin growth or discoloration that increases in size with time is suspicious for a skin cancer.

Many people know that skin cancer is something they should be concerned about, especially as it's becoming increasingly common. But while most have probably heard about the dangers of skin melanoma, they may not be as aware of the other skin cancer types, which can also be harmful and require prevention, screening, and treatment.

Skin Cancer Types
The most common forms of skin cancer are:
Basal cell carcinoma. This is the most common type of skin cancer, affecting about a million new people each year in the United States. Basal cell carcinoma:
Is caused by too much exposure to the sun.
May look like an open, oozing sore; a scar; shiny bump; or a red patch of skin.
Is easy to treat and is rarely fatal.
May cause significant scarring.
Occurs most often in fair-skinned people whose skin is not likely to tan.
Basal cell carcinoma is characterized by a chronic sore that doesn't heal or a rapidly growing lesion, according to Mary Martini, MD, director of the Pigmented Lesion and Melanoma Clinic at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Squamous cell carcinoma. This is the second most frequently diagnosed type of skin cancer, with 250,000 Americans being diagnosed each year. Squamous cell carcinoma affects the very top layer of the skin. Squamous cell carcinoma:
Is caused by too much exposure to the sun.
May look like thick bumps in the skin, which may be open, lumpy, or crusty. They usually have elevated edges.
Is easy to treat and is not usually serious, but should be caught and treated early to prevent the spread to other organs.
Most often occurs on the head, shoulders and arms, but also on the edge of the ear and the lower lip.
Squamous cell carcinoma, like basal cell carcinoma, is characterized by sores that won't heal or quickly growing lesions on the skin, according to Dr. Martini.

Melanoma. This is the least common of the three main skin cancer types, but it can be the most deadly. When skin melanoma goes untreated and spreads beyond the skin and into other parts of the body, the condition can become very serious. Melanoma:
Is caused by too much exposure to the sun.
Is more common in people who have had bad (blistering) sunburns, have a lot of moles, have fair skin, and have a family history of melanoma.
May look like an irregular mole (asymmetrical, irregular borders, different colors, large in diameter, evolving), or a mole that bleeds.
May feel sore, hard, swollen, or itchy.
Can appear anywhere on the body.

How to Help Prevent All Skin Cancer Types

They may all look a little different, but you can help to reduce your risk of all skin cancer types the same way: by being smart about the sun. Reduce exposure to the sun's harmful rays by using a high SPF sunscreen, wearing hats and long sleeves, and limiting how much time you spend out in the direct sun.

And make sure you get to know your skin very well. Do a full body check (it helps to engage a partner or friend to look at hard-to-reach areas) every month or so, and make sure your doctor does a skin check once a year. This will increase your chances that any skin changes can be identified and dealt with early. As with any cancer, skin cancer has the best outcome with early diagnosis and treatment.

Green tea extract can cure skin cancer

Green tea extract can cure skin cancer - Green tea has long been suspected of having anti-cancer properties and the extract has been investigated before.

“These are very encouraging results which we hope could pave the way for new and effective cancer treatments,” said Dr Christine Dufes, a senior lecturer at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, who led the research.

“When we used our method, the green tea extract reduced the size of many of the tumours every day, in some cases removing them altogether.

“This research could open doors to new treatments for what is still one of the biggest killer diseases in many countries,” she added.

According to her, when the extract is administered intravenously, it goes everywhere in the body, so when it gets to the tumours it’s too diluted.

“With the targeted delivery system, it’s taken straight to the tumours without any effect on normal tissue,” she explained.

The “ultimate objective” was a clinical trial in humans – but Dr Dufes said that was some way off.

Prince Harry biggest scandals

Prince Harry biggest scandals - Photos of Prince Harry naked and partying in Las Vegas caused a firestorm this week. Here's a look at three other Harry scandals. Prince Harry's naked photos may have gotten him into hot water with Granny, but this is not even the biggest scandal in the 27-year-old's life. Here's a look at Five other Harry scandals:

2002: The teenage prince actually goes to rehab after confessing to drinking and smoking marijuana.

2005: He attends a costume party … in a Nazi outfit.

2010: He plays polo on a horse that had allegedly been stabbed by his spur, prompting animal rights activists to call him "heartless."

Every family has a rebel. For Britian’s Royal dynasty, that title belongs to Prince Harry.

Whether he’s showing up to a costume party dressed as Nazi or using racial slurs to describe his comrades, Harry, 27, has found himself in very hot water over the years, often to the embarrassment of his prestigious relatives.

Most recently, Harry was photographed naked in a Las Vegas hotel room, where he was seen, um, cupping his Royal jewels and, um, getting up close and personal with an unidentified female.

Not the the the best thing to be caught doing, but, if you can believe it, it isn’t the worst thing Harry’s done either.

1. Prince of Ales: Once upon a time, in a kingdom not so far, far away, Prince Harry was nothing more than a young impressionable schoolboy (at Eton, granted, one of the most prestigious schools in all the land) and allegedly engaged in a pastime not foreign to 16-year-olds: He experimented. Back in 2002, the British press exploded with reports that after admitting to having tried out cannabis and engaging in underage drinking, Harry's dad Prince Charles ordered him to a nearby rehab center.

2. School Daze: Back in 2004, Prince Harry once again dominated headlines for less than flattering reasons, when one of his former teachers at Eton College made the bold claim that she helped him cheat his way through an arts class, completing some of his schoolwork for him, and claiming that she prepared text—at the behest of the head of the art department, allegedly—to go along with art he created in one of his final projects. The teacher, Sarah Forsyth, made the claims during an employment tribunal held over her unfair dismissal (she blamed Harry; the school blamed her not-up-to-snuff teaching style) and added insult to injury when she called Harry a "weak student." Both Harry and the school vehemently denied the allegations.

3. Der Foot in Mouth: Perhaps the most infamous of all of Harry's tabloid indiscretions was the costume party held back in December 2004, when the then-20-year-old wore a swastika armband to a friend's do. Inevitably, a photo of the royal in the horrendously ill-chosen outfit made the front page of tabloids around the world, most blaring the headline, "Harry the Nazi."

4. Language, Gentlemen: Unfortunately for him, Harry's cultural insensitivity tour continued apace, and yet more hands were wrung and heads hung over a bout of verbal gaffes laid out by the prince. In 2009, a video taken of Harry three years prior emerged, on which the prince was clearly heard describing fellow Army colleagues by racist or otherwise derogatory names. During the footage, filmed while training in Cyprus, he refers to one colleague, Ahmed Raza Khan, as "our little Paki friend," and to another as "a raghead." Even the now-Prime Minister David Cameron spoke out against the utterances, calling it "an unacceptable thing to say." Harry naturally was quick to issue an apology, saying he understood "how offensive this term can be, and is extremely sorry for any offence his words might cause."

5. Royal Rage: Well, we can't say that we blame him for this one. Or that we're disappointed that the headlines that resulted from this particular incident resulted in him being called, at least briefly, Harry Potty. But back in the fall of 2004, the prince launched into what the Mirror deemed "four-letter fury" at a paparazzo who was hounding his every move. The incident devolved into a physical scuffle, and photos of the royal being held back red-faced emerged, as did photos of the offending paparazzo with a cut lip. No legal action was taken.

Americans throw out food study

Americans throw out food study - A new study has found that Americans throw out a huge amount of food each year. The average family of four wastes $2,275 worth of food annually, the study found, contributing to overflowing landfills in the process.

Americans throw away nearly half their food every year, waste worth roughly $165 billion annually, according to a study released on Tuesday.

"As a country, we're essentially tossing every other piece of food that crosses our path. That's money and precious resources down the drain," said Dana Gunders, a scientist with the Natural Resources Defense Council's food and agriculture program.

The NRDC report said Americans discard 40 percent of the food supply every year, and the average American family of four ends up throwing away an equivalent of up to $2,275 annually in food.

Just a 15 percent reduction in losses in the U.S. food supply would save enough to feed 25 million Americans annually. It also would lighten the burden on landfills, where food waste makes up the largest component of solid waste, according to the NRDC, a nonprofit environmental organization.

Particularly worrisome, the organization said, was evidence that there has been a 50 percent jump in U.S. food waste since the 1970s. Unsold fruits and vegetables in grocery stores account for a big part of the wasted food.

But consumers and restaurants are also to blame, preparing large portions that result in leftovers that often go uneaten.

The NRDC said it is asking for the U.S. government to study losses in the food system and set goals for waste reduction.

"No matter how sustainably our food is farmed, if it's not being eaten, it is not a good use of resources," said Gunders.

Lana Del Rey new face Jaguar

Lana Del Rey new face Jaguar - Lana Del Rey chosen as the new face of Jaguar, Sultry singer Lana Del Rey has been named the face of Jaguar's new F-Type car line. It's been a good week for Del Rey, who also was named the new face of another company.

The gorgeous, pouting star has signed a six-figure deal with Jaguar to launch their amazing new F-Type. At the very least she’s getting one for her garage too.
The collaboration will be officially unveiled in Paris next month.
I don’t have any pictures of her in the fancy all-new two-seater sports car yet, but here she is in a swimming pool looking amazing.
What a woman.
Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s global brand director, said: “Jaguar’s allure is in large part due to its unique blend of authenticity and modernity, two values we believe are shared with Lana in her professional achievements.”

Green tea skin cancer

Green tea skin cancer - Tea extract helps cure skin cancer, study finds, Scientists have found that a tea extract helps eradicate skin cancer tumors. However, the extract isn't strong enough to have health benefits when naturally found in a cup of tea. To be effective, scientsits, who say more research is needed, must concentrate the compound, called epigallocatechin.

Scientists hope that a powerful new anti-cancer drugs based on green tea could soon be developed after they found that an extract from the beverage could make almost half of tumours vanish.

The University of Strathclyde team made 40 per cent of human skin cancer tumours disappear using the compound, called epigallocatechin gallate, in a laboratory study.

Green tea has long been suspected of having anti-cancer properties and the extract has been investigated before. However, this is the first time researchers have managed to make it effective at shrinking tumours.

Previous attempts to capitalise on its cancer-fighting properties have failed because scientists used intravenous drips, which failed to deliver enough of the extract to the tumours themselves.

Back To The Future III

Back to the Future Part III is a 1990 American science fiction comedy Western film. It is the third and final installment of the Back to the Future trilogy. The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis and starred Michael J.

Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Mary Steenburgen, Thomas F. Wilson and Lea Thompson. The film takes place immediately after the events of Back to the Future Part II. While stranded in 1955, Marty McFly discovers that his friend Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown was killed by Biff Tannen’s great-grandfather Buford. Marty decides to travel to 1885 to rescue Doc and return to his own timeline.

Filming took place in both California and Arizona, and the film was released in the United States on May 25, 1990. The film was a commercial success and achieved $244.53 million at the international box office, making it the 6th highest grossing film of 1990. Fan reaction to the film was more positive than to the first sequel, with many stating that this entry to the series reflected the original better than Part II. Critics also gave Part III better reviews than Part II, which had been met with mostly mixed to positive reactions.

Patrick Schwarzenegger Pet Alligator

Patrick Schwarzenegger Pet Alligator - Arnold Schwarzenegger's son, Patrick, 18, posted a photo online this week with his "pet alligator". He was most likely joking, seeing that he just moved to college and is living in a dorm.

It is always a landmark moment when a child swaps the family home for the grown up world of academia.

But it seems Patrick Schwarzenegger will have someone special to share it with, after he revealed he has a new pet alligator.

And just to prove it the jolly 18-year-old posted a picture of the reptile on his Twitter page.

The picture with the animal, which certainly looked real enough in the hilarious image, seemed to have been taken at someone's house, though it is illegal to keep them as pets in his native California.
Meanwhile the teenager today moved to his dorm room in the exclusive University of Southern California.
He was given a hand by his mother and sisters, and gave them a shout out on his twitter page for being so helpful.
But Maria Shriver admitted she is going to find it difficult to be without her boy, even though she happily posed with him in his new room at the private school in a photo they posted on the internet.
She said: 'It's very different moving boys into college compared to two girls. So much less stuff. No matching this and that.
'Patrick's first night away will be tomorrow night. Send me lots of virtual Kleenex! Happy for him but the mom in me is also sad.'
However if there is one crumb of comfort for her, it is she seems to have found a far cuter new friend \as she spent some quality time with her eldest daughter Katherine.
The 22-year-old posted an image of the pair with an adorable marsupial, saying: 'Yep we played with a baby kangaroo.'

Glasses Free 3D Movie

Glasses Free 3D Movie - Glasses-free 3-D movies coming soon? Researchers in South Korea have created a new method that allows people to watch 3-D movies without wearing 3-D glasses. According to their research, by using a filter to block certain types of light on a movie projector – your eyes will see the pictures on the screen slightly different. Even though their method is still in its early stages, researchers say it could be the next step for 3-D technology.

Beyond the extra $4+ movie theaters charge for the “experience,” one of the biggest burdens of viewing a 3D movie are those cumbersome glasses. With several different types of 3D available, many of which require a different pair of glasses – not to mention a ton of movies that don’t make all that great use of 3D (usually a post-converted film) – most casual moviegoers simply forgo the experience altogether.

But what if one of the biggest obstacles to that experience (the aforementioned annoying glasses) could be eliminated altogether? It’s not exactly happening anytime soon, but a group of South Korean researchers have published a study claiming they have found a way for theaters to project a 3D image without the need for glasses, and it requires no additional projector installation.

The proposal, which was published in Optics Express, presents a technology that isn’t too overly complicated to set up, but requires quite a bit of explanation. Here’s a handy breakdown courtesy of Wired:

The new method would allow movie theaters to keep their projectors where they’ve always been, behind the audience, and uses fairly simple optical technology. A special array sits in front of the projector and polarizes its light. A filter covering the screen then obscures different vertical regions of the screen, like the slats of venetian blinds. Each of your eyes, sitting at a slightly different angle, has some of the screen blocked and some of the screen visible. The movie has the right-eye and left-eye images interleaved in vertical columns with one another. The trick then is to have the light visible to your left eye contain the left-eye pixels and vice versa for the right eye.

The installation appears to only require a new device be placed in front of the projector and another screen be situated between the audience and the movie theater screen. It sounds simple enough, but with so many 3D technologies out there it doesn’t sound like a cure-all just yet.

Although Real D is far and away the most popular 3D theater technology available, there still exist several other options, like Dolby’s Digital 3D, which use a different form of 3D projection. Was this adaptation used on Real D or another type of 3D? Will it work on all forms including those that don’t use polarization to project a 3D image?

Devices like Nintendo’s 3DS are perfect examples of situations where glasses-less 3D is possible, but the device itself is built with specific instructions. A pre-determined viewing angle must be achieved at all times or else the entire 3D effect is lost. There are definitely ideal places to sit in theaters – sections where this glasses-less 3D would be at its optimal level – but what about the front row or the side sections?

These are all just hypothetical problems that theater owners could run into, but one of the major problems with this new technology is its ability to only project a low-res image. It’s something that could be fixed with tinkering, but shows that the tech is still not ready for widespread testing.

Still, the prospect of ditching glasses in favor of a crisper unhindered 3D image will likely have moviegoers intrigued.

Oldest Siblings 818 Years

Oldest Siblings 818 Years - World's oldest siblings recognized, Nine brothers and sisters have been recognized as the world's oldest siblings by Guinness World Records. They credit their longevity to a certain type of food, and the oldest sibling, Consolata, turned 105 this week.

The Melis siblings on the island of Sardinia are officially the world's oldest with nine brothers and sisters clocking up a total of 818 years between them, Italian newspapers reported on Tuesday.
The oldest sibling, Consolata, is 104 and has nine children, 24 grand-children and 25 great-grandchildren, the reports said, adding that the longevity of the Melis had been recognised as a Guinness World Record.
Consolata will turn 105 on Wednesday, the reports said, adding that the Guinness certification followed a seven-year review around the world.
The Melis are from the village of Perdasdefogu in the southeastern corner of the island, which has some of the oldest people in the world.
The next oldest are Claudia (99), Maria (97), Antonio (93), Concetta (91), Adolfo (89), Vitalio (86), Vitalia (81), and Mafalda (78).
Claudia still attends mass every week and Adolfo runs the local bar.
Luca Deiana, a professor of clinical biochemistry at the university of Sassari in Sardinia who has studied some 2,500 centenarians on the island since 1996 said the longevity of local inhabitants was due to various factors. "On the one hand it is about genetics, about inherited longevity... but there is also the bounty of the land and the local fruit, particularly pears and prunes," he was quoted as saying by Corriere della Sera. He also said strong local family traditions contributed to long life.

LL Cool J Burglar

LL Cool J Burglar - LL Cool J reportedly caught a burglar in his Los Angeles home on Wednesday. A 911 call was placed from the home around 1 a.m., and police arrived shortly after to find the rapper-actor holding down the alleged burglar.

LL Cool J woke up to the sound of a burglar after hearing a noise in his home and was able to overpower the suspect until police arrived to make the arrest.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the burglar broke into LL Cool J's house around 2 a.m. Wednesday. The 44-year-old "NCIS: Los Angeles" actor heard a noise downstairs and went to see what was going on. That's when he encountered the intruder and took him down.

He held onto the suspect until cops arrived. No one was seriously injured, though police say the suspect suffered a few bruises.
The suspect, whose identity was not immediately released, faces burglary charges. Just after 3 a.m. Wednesday, LL Cool J's daughter, Samaria Smith, 16, tweeted: "One crazy crazy night. #speechless". "LL Cool J and his family are safe and thank everyone for their thoughts and concern. As a father, husband and citizen, he is committed to keeping his family safe and is cooperating with authorities on this private matter," a rep for LL Cool J said in a statement.

Taylor Swift Crashed Wedding

Taylor Swift Crashed Wedding - Did Taylor Swift crash a wedding? Country singer Taylor Swift, 22, apparently caused a bit of a scene while attending a wedding with her new beau Conor Kennedy. Swift was reportedly asked to leave the wedding so that the attention wouldn't be taken away from the bride. The singer, however, didn't leave and insists she was asked to come to the event.

The latest Camelot wedding was Swift-boated last weekend by Conor Kennedy and his country singer sweetheart.
Chart-topping songstress Taylor Swift and her teenage beau reportedly crashed the Boston nuptials despite the mother of the bride’s request to steer clear of the reception.
Even after arriving at the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel, Swift twice ignored requests from Victoria Gifford Kennedy to leave the spotlight on the bride and groom.
TAYLOR SWIFT & CONOR KENNEDY CAUGHT KISSING
“They texted me an hour before the wedding and asked if they could come,” Kennedy told the Boston Herald. “I responded with a very clear, ‘Please do not come.’ ”
The message to the musician and the son of RFK Jr. fell on deaf ears.
“They came anyway,” said Victoria Kennedy. “I personally went up to Miss Swift, whose entrance distracted the entire event, politely introduced myself to her, and asked her as nicely as I could to leave.”
Swift — whose latest single, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” topped the charts this week — blithely ignored the request.
“It was like talking to a ghost,” the bride’s mom recounted to the Herald. “She seemed to look right past me.”
Conor was reportedly invited solo to the wedding of Kyle Kennedy and Liam Kerr last Saturday — but never sent a response, according to Victoria Kennedy. A worker at a hotel store confirmed that Swift arrived in a flowered dress, causing a huge stir — with fans snapping photos and rushing the platinum-selling singer-songwriter for autographs. The wedding-crashing couple, despite Victoria’s protestations, apparently danced the night away at the reception without any further complaints. A Swift spokeswoman denied the reports of any mixup, insisting the singer was definitely on the guest list. “There is no truth to that,” said Paula Erikson. “Taylor was invited to the wedding, and the bride thanked her profusely.” Swift, 22, began dating the 18-year-old Kennedy shortly after the suicide of his mother in May. The romance blossomed quickly, with the singer and the scion spending much of the summer together. Swift recently bought a $5 million estate opposite the storied Kennedy compound in Hyannisport, Mass.

Justice Department Pot Public Lands 2012

Justice Department Pot Public Lands 2012 - Feds find (and destroy) huge amount of pot on public lands, Federal authorities revealed this week that they found and destroyed a huge amount of marijuana during recent raids on national park lands. For years, pot has been grown on federal land by everyone from small-time criminals to giant drug cartels.

There’s one type of green the Justice Department says it is busy eradicating from national parks and other federal lands: marijuana. Federal agents and U.S. attorneys in seven states are carrying out an eight-week operation targeting illegal marijuana cultivation on public land destroyed 578,000 plants valued at over $1 billion, the Justice Department said Tuesday.

Operation Mountain Sweep involved prosecutions against alleged growers and seizures in California, Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. The Drug Enforcement Administration, National Park Service and other federal agencies worked with local police to conduct the eradication.

The operation comes as the Obama administration in recent months has tried to clarify its marijuana policy, after some federal agents complained the federal government appeared to be condoning pot, particularly in states where medical marijuana is legal.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, then-Sen. Barack Obama said he wouldn’t use the Justice Department to counter state laws that legalized medical marijuana. In the years since, however, Mr. Obama’s administration has hewed close to previous federal policy, which maintains cultivating the plant is illegal.

U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner, in Sacramento, Calif., said marijuana growers “pose a safety threat to the public and an environmental threat to the land,” noting the use of fertilizers and pesticides.

DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart said the operation was a “concerted effort to reclaim these wild and beautiful areas and protect them from further destruction and exploitation.”

Martin Luther King Jr Tape

Martin Luther King Jr Tape - Unheard Martin Luther King Jr. tape found in attic, While rummaging in his attic, a Chattanooga, Tenn., man reportedly stumbled across an old audio reel of his father interviewing the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Stephon Tull said his father witnessed the racial tensions in the South and wanted to write a book about how bad things were. He reportedly interviewed King three years before King gave one of his most memorable speeches.

New Martin Luther King Jr audio tape discovered, An audio tape of a previously unpublished interview with Martin Luther King Jr has emerged, in which King calls the movement "one of the greatest epics of our heritage."

The nearly pristine reel-to-reel recording marked "Dr King interview, Dec 21, 1960" was found by Stephon Tull in dusty boxes in his father's attic in Tennessee. His father interviewed King in 1960 for a never-written memoir.
The tape captures King talking about the importance of the civil rights movement, his definition of nonviolence and how a recent trip to Africa informed his views. New York collector Keya Morgan authenticated the tape and is arranging a private sale this month.
Many recordings of King are known to exist. But one historian said the interview is unusual because there's little audio of King discussing his activities in Africa, while two of King's contemporaries said it's exciting to hear a little-known recording of their friend for the first time.
Mr Tull wasn't sure what he had found until he borrowed a friend's reel-to-reel player and listened.
"No words can describe. I couldn't believe it," he told The Associated Press this week in a phone interview. "I found ... a lost part of history."

Mr Tull said his father, an insurance salesman, had planned to write a book about the racism he encountered growing up and later as an adult. He said his dad interviewed King when he visited the city but never completed the book. Mr Tull's father is now in his early 80s and under hospice care.
The interview was made four years before the Civil Rights Act became law, three years before King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech and eight years before his assassination. At one point in the interview, King predicts the impact of the civil rights movement.
"I am convinced that when the history books are written in future years, historians will have to record this movement as one of the greatest epics of our heritage," he said.
King had visited Africa about a month before the interview, and he discusses with Mr Tull's father how leaders there viewed the racial unrest in the United States.
"I had the opportunity to talk with most of the major leaders of the new independent countries of Africa, and also leaders in countries that are moving toward independence," he said. "And I think all of them agree that in the United States we must solve this problem of racial injustice if we expect to maintain our leadership in the world."
Raymond Winbush, director of the Institute for Urban Research at Maryland's Morgan State University, said the tape is significant because there are very few recordings of King detailing his activity in Africa.
"It's clear that in this tape when he's talking ... about Africa, he saw this as a global human rights movement that would inspire other organizations, other nations, other groups around the world," said Winbush. "That to me is what's remarkable about the tape."
US Rep. John Lewis said hearing his friend talk took him back in time.
"To ... hear his voice and listen to his words was so moving, so powerful," said Lewis. "I wish people all over America, all over the world, can hear this message over and over again," he said.

They're How Old?

They're How Old? Try to guess the age difference between these actors and their on-screen alter egos. Older actors and actresses downplaying their real age to play a much younger character is nothing new. Remember Rizzo in "Grease"? The actress who played the 18-year-old was nearly twice her Pink Lady's senior during filming of the 1978 musical. The same goes for Michael J. Fox. His character, Marty McFly, was 17 while Fox was 29 when "Back to the Future Part III" wrapped in 1990.
Sissy Spacek was 26 when she portrayed the lead character in 1978's "Carrie," and 29-year-old Stacey Dash played ditzy 17-year-old Dionne to valley girl perfection in "Clueless." Now, there's a new crop of older thespians with baby faces playing younger characters on the big and small screens. Don't let their mugs fool you. Can you guess their real ages?
Minka Kelly "Friday Night Lights" She played high school student and cheerleader Lyla Garrity in this NBC series about a high school football team in the fictional small town of Dillon, Texas. Perhaps the most fictional part of the series is that Kelly was nowhere near high-school age when she landed the role in 2006.
Andrew Garfield "The Amazing Spider-Man" When Andrew Garfield filmed this flick, alter-ego Peter Parker was just 17 years old, while the studly actor was just a tad bit older. Oh, what a deceptive web we weave.
Cory Monteith "Glee" The TV heartthrob plays Finn Hudson, star quarterback turned high-school glee club member, on this embarrassingly addictive FOX series. Subconsciously, his character must be in the "real age" know, as Finn has fallen for both Quinn Fabray and glee club star singer Rachel Berry
Rose McIver "The Lovely Bones" She looked like a regular teenager when she portrayed Lindsey Salmon, younger sis to main character Susie Salmon in this 2009 movie. In actuality, McIver was nearly a decade older than her teenage co-star.
Jason Earles "Hannah Montana" He could probably still pass for a teenager today, but this actor was nowhere near the age of Miley Stewart's (played by Miley Cyrus) brother, Jackson, when he took on the Disney sitcom role in 2006.
Chace Crawford "Gossip Girl" Crawford was 22 when he landed the role of Nate Archibald on this CW teen drama, playing the "golden boy" best friend of bad boy Chuck Bass. But the real gossip? How old this actor really is.
John Cho "Star Trek" Talk about falling into a black hole of time. His character Sulu was barely of legal drinking age when Cho played him in this 2009 space odyssey sequel. Cho himself? He could have been the seasoned bartender serving the drinks.
Paul Wesley "The Vampire Diaries" He plays vampire Stefan Salvatore, the younger brother of Damon Salvatore and love interest of 17-year-old Elena Gilbert. His real-life wife, who is much closer to his real-life age, plays alongside him as Dr. Meredith Fell.
Gabourey Sidibe "Precious" Her portrayal of 16-year-old Claireece "Precious" Jones in this 2009 film earned Sidibe a Best Actress nomination at the Academy Awards. It's unclear what the most challenging part of getting into character was for Sidibe, but playing a high-school teenager must have been near the top of the list.
Blair Redford "The Lying Game" He plays Ethan Whitehorse, a sexy lad who falls for identical twin sisters on this ABC Family teen drama. But the real lie is Redford's fictional age.
Kenny Wormald "Footloose" Following in his predecessor's footsteps, this fresh-faced actor was much younger than the character he played in this 1984 remake. Kevin Bacon was 26 when he landed the part of 17-year-old Ren MacCormack. Looks like Wormald followed Bacon's lead on this one
Trevor Donovan "90210" This hunky actor is best known for his role as Teddy Montgomery on this hit teen drama. His character came out of the closet in the third season, but what's still being kept hush-hush is this actor's real age. What would the faculty of West Beverly say if that got out?
Amanda Bynes "Easy A" She doesn't always act her age, and her role as conservative high school student Marianne Bryant in this 2010 movie is no exception. Passing as a teenager earns Bynes an A+ in our book. The rest of her hijinx? Not so much.
Megan Park "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" Park plays Grace Bowman, a perky blond conservative Christian cheerleader who has her share of high-school boyfriends, all while struggling with her vow to stay celibate until marriage. If she really wants to stay pure, she should come clean about her age.
Dave Franco "21 Jump Street" The younger brother of actor James, this Franco sibling played a high-school drug dealer in the movie adaptation of the popular late '80s television series. In fact, he was only 2 when the series premiered.
Bianca Lawson "Pretty Little Liars" She was an original cast member of 1993's "Saved By the Bell: The New Class," playing teenager Megan Jones. Nearly two decades later, we're still buying her high school act as the new girl in school, Maya St. Germain, in ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars". Hey, if the series title fits ...
Zac Efron "Me and Orson Welles" For his breakout role, Efron played popular jock Troy Bolten in the Disney Channel's "High School Musical"—a role he landed after getting his real-life diploma. Three years later, he played 17-year-old Richard Samuels in the 2009 period drama, "Me and Orson Welles." You do the math.
