Male celebs' plastic surgery results, male stars who have gone under the knife

Male celebs' plastic surgery results, male stars who have gone under the knife, Legendary country crooner Kenny Rogers turns 74 on August 21, marking more than 50 years in the spotlight thanks to his super successful music career. In recent years, however, he’s made headlines for something much less impressive: the plastic surgery he’s undergone … and spoken about quite candidly. Kenny Rogers shocked fans when he went under the knife in 2005, and emerged with a face that looked quite different from the one that made him famous. After successfully having liposuction in 1989 to slim down a bit, he probably should have known when to fold ‘em, but instead went back in for another cosmetic procedure (which looks like it involved a serious eye lift) years later, after marrying his fifth wife, Wanda Miller, who’s nearly 30 years his junior. Rogers ended up with a lifted look that he regrets. “I kind of wish I hadn't done it,” he said a couple of years after his facial surgery. “Looking back at some pictures of myself, my eyes were a lot warmer than they are now, and I miss that.”

Actor Mickey Rourke became a sex symbol in the ‘80s thanks to his starring roles in erotic films like “9 ½ Weeks” and “Wild Orchid.” But after his movie career began to wane, he returned to his earlier career, boxing, which, he says, left him with visible facial injuries and prompted him to get cosmetic surgery. Unfortunately, the result wasn’t what he wanted. “Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together,” the 59-year-old has said.

Olympian Bruce Jenner, who turns 63 in October, was never happy with the facelift he got more than 25 years ago, which also brought him tons of media criticism. So when he was deciding to undergo a second procedure to correct the first one, he discussed it with his entire family, including wife Kris Jenner and his stepdaughters Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney ... and then had the facelift while “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” cameras were rolling. “It was kind of a mutual decision by everybody. We all kind of talked and said should we do this? We did take a vote,” he told Maria Menounos on “Access Hollywood” in 2009, adding he had confidence in his surgeon, Garth Fisher. “He’s a good friend … and probably the best plastic surgeon in town. I had long discussions with him. Can he correct it and fix it from 25 years ago? And he assured me. I’m actually very, very pleased with the results.”

School forces boy to hide T-shirt's message, Oklahoma youngster forced to turn his Michigan shirt inside out at school

School forces boy to hide T-shirt's message, Oklahoma youngster forced to turn his Michigan shirt inside out at school, A 5-year-old boy learned the hard way that Columbus, Ohio, isn't the only place that hates Michigan -- apparently Oklahoma does too.

Young Cooper Barton wore his favorite Michigan shirt to Wilson Elementary in Oklahoma City and was told it violated the Oklahoma City Public Schools dress code and was asked to turn the shirt inside out. According to the dress code, students are only allowed to wear Oklahoma, Oklahoma State or apparel from another Oklahoma state school. Everything else is a violation (especially Texas).

"They should really worry about academics. It wasn't offensive. He's 5," Cooper's mother Shannon Barton told News9.com.

The dress code also prohibits professional apparel.

This isn't the first time a kindergartener has been asked to ignore their collegiate allegiance. In February, Emma Burton of Olathe, Kan., refused to color a University of Kansas Jayhawk because she and her parents were devout Kansas State fans.

Woman rocks bikini after losing 100 pounds, Michelle's Inspiring Weight-Loss Tale

Woman rocks bikini after losing 100 pounds, Michelle's Inspiring Weight-Loss Tale, At 210 pounds, Michelle Mohr was tired of "feeling invisible" — so she changed her life. Michelle Mohr, 27, of Florida, was admittedly "super, super strict" about her diet when she decided to lose weight after years of "feeling invisible" in her group of "normal-sized" friends. She was 5'4" and 210 pounds. She's now 110 pounds and has never been more confident.

"I never thought I would look like this in a bikini!" she says. Growing up, I was always the fat kid. Lunch would be pizza, fries, and nachos. I'd come home from school and eat a box of stuffing that could serve a family of four!

"Then I'd eat two plates of spaghetti for dinner. I was teased by kids and so embarrassed. I remember sitting on the couch and bawling, 'I'm never going to be thin!'

"But after college I changed my life. I read magazines, watched videos online, and tailored my own plan. Now I go to the gym five days a week. Recently I've been more comfortable buying swimsuits and going to the beach in a group. I love having confidence!"

Breakfast: 2 scramled egg whites, 1/2 cup fat-free cottage cheese, an apple, a slice of toast and 9 almonds.

Lunch: Salad with chicken, chickpeas, mushrooms, celery and tomato.

The big bang theory

The big bang theory, The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of whom serve as executive producers on the show, along with Steven Molaro. All three also serve as head writers. It premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007.

The show is centered on five characters: roommates Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper, two physicists who work at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech); Penny, a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall; and Leonard and Sheldon's equally geeky and socially awkward friends and co-workers, aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz and astrophysicist Rajesh Koothrappali. The "geekiness" and intellect of the four guys is contrasted for comic effect with Penny's social skills and common sense. Over time supporting characters have been promoted to starring roles: Leslie Winkle, a physicist colleague at Caltech and, at different times, a lover of both Leonard and Howard; Bernadette Rostenkowski, Howard's fiancée and subsequent wife, a microbiologist and former part-time waitress alongside Penny; and neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler, who joins the group after being matched to Sheldon on a dating website. Bernadette and Amy became prominent characters after Penny and Leonard stopped dating.

The show, which is filmed in front of a live audience, is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions. In August 2009, the sitcom won the best comedy series TCA award and Jim Parsons (Sheldon) won the award for individual achievement in comedy. In 2010, the show won the People's Choice Award for Favorite Comedy, while Parsons won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. On January 16, 2011, Parsons was awarded a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical, an award that was presented by co-star Kaley Cuoco (Penny). On September 18, 2011, Parsons was again awarded an Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

When the third season premiered on September 21, 2009, The Big Bang Theory ranked as CBS's highest-rated show of that evening in the adults 18–49 demographic (4.6/10), along with a then-series-high 12.83 million viewers. On May 19, 2010, it was announced that CBS would be moving the show to Thursdays at 8:00 ET for the 2010–2011 schedule. On January 12, 2011, CBS announced that the show had been renewed for an additional three years, extending it through the 2013–2014 season. The fifth season premiered on September 22, 2011, in its usual time slot with two back-to-back episodes. The fifth season completed airing on May 10, 2012. The show has been picked up for a sixth season which is scheduled to premiere on September 27, 2012.

The show's initial pilot, developed for the 2006–07 television season, was substantially different from its current form. The only characters from the initial pilot that were kept for the reshot pilot for the series were Leonard and Sheldon (portrayed by Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons respectively and named after Sheldon Leonard). The cast was rounded off by two female leads: Canadian actress Amanda Walsh as Katie, "a street-hardened, tough-as-nails, woman with a vulnerable interior" who the boys meet after she breaks up with her boyfriend and invite to live in their apartment (Katie was replaced by Penny in the second pilot); and Iris Bahr as Gilda, a scientist colleague and friend of the boys who was threatened by Katie's presence. The initial pilot used Thomas Dolby's hit "She Blinded Me With Science" as theme music.

The series was not picked up, but the creators were given an opportunity to retool the show and produce a second pilot. They brought in the remaining cast and retooled the show to its final format. The original unaired pilot has never been officially released, but it has circulated on the Internet. On the evolution of the show, Lorre said "We did the 'Big Bang Pilot' about two and a half years ago, and it sucked... but there were two remarkable things that worked perfectly, and that was Johnny and Jim. We rewrote the thing entirely, and then we were blessed with Kaley and Simon and Kunal." As to whether the world will ever see that original pilot, maybe on a DVD, Lorre said "Wow that would be something, we will see. Show your failures..."

The first and second pilots of The Big Bang Theory were directed by James Burrows, who did not continue with the show. The reworked second pilot led to a 13-episode order by CBS on May 14, 2007. Prior to its airing on CBS, the pilot episode was distributed on iTunes free of charge. The show premiered September 24, 2007, and was picked-up for a full 22-episode season on October 19, 2007. However, production was halted on November 6, 2007 due to the Writers Guild of America strike. The series returned on March 17, 2008 in an earlier time slot and ultimately only 17 episodes were produced. After the strike ended, the show was picked up for a second season airing in the 2008–2009 season, premiering in the same time slot on September 22, 2008. With increasing ratings, the show received a two-year renewal through the 2010–11 season. Since then, the show has been picked up for three more seasons.

David Saltzberg, a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of California, Los Angeles, checks scripts and provides dialogue, mathematics equations, and diagrams used as props. According to executive producer/co-creator Bill Prady, "We're working on giving Sheldon an actual problem that he's going to be working on throughout the [first] season so there's actual progress to the boards ... We worked hard to get all the science right."

Several of the actors in The Big Bang Theory worked together previously on Roseanne including Johnny Galecki, Sara Gilbert, and Laurie Metcalf (who plays Sheldon's mother, Mary Cooper). Additionally, Lorre was a writer on the series for several seasons.

Mika Yamamoto, Mika Yamamoto Dead: Japanese TV Journalist Killed In Aleppo Gunfight

Mika Yamamoto, Mika Yamamoto Dead: Japanese TV Journalist Killed In Aleppo Gunfight, A Japanese journalist died of wounds sustained in Aleppo on Tuesday, the scene of heavy clashes between Syrian forces and rebels, a Syrian activist group said in a statement.

Japan's Kyodo news agency, quoting an official at the Japanese embassy in Turkey, identified the journalist as Mika Yamamoto, an award-winning reporter who worked for Tokyo-based independent news wire Japan Press.

Japan Press was not immediately available for comment. Its web site said Yamamoto, who was born in 1967, had covered conflicts in such places as Afghanistan and Iraq. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the Japanese reporter had been injured in the Suleimaniya district of Aleppo.

The Syrian activist group also said that a Lebanese journalist, a Turkish journalist and an Arab journalist, whose nationality it did not identify, had disappeared in Aleppo.

It was not possible to independently verify the account. Mika Yamamoto (Yamamoto Mika) (1967 – 20 August 2012) was an award-winning Japanese video and photo journalist for the news agency Japan Press. Yamamoto was killed on 20 August 2012 while covering the ongoing Syrian civil war in Aleppo, Syria. She is the first Japanese and fourth foreign journalist killed in the Syrian Civil War that began in March 2011. She is also the fifteenth journalist killed in Syria in 2012. Yamamoto was born in Tsuru, a city in Yamanashi Prefecture, in 1967. Her father is Koji Yamamoto, a former Asahi Shimbun reporter. She graduated from Tsuru University. Yamamoto and her Japanese colleague, Kazutaka Sato, were travelling with the Free Syrian Army members when the attack occurred in Aleppo.

She was seriously wounded in the Suleiman al Halabi district of the city during a clash between Syrian opposite forces and pro-government forces on 20 August 2012  fellow journalist Sato stated that Yamamoto's death occurred when pro-regime troops appeared and started "random shooting". She died at a nearby hospital after being shot in the neck. A rebel fighter reported that she was killed during shelling by the pro-government forces. Masaru Sato, a spokesman with the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo, confirmed her death on 20 August 2012. Her body was delivered by the members of the Liwa Asifat al Shamal, one of the groups attached to the Free Syrian Army, to Japanese consular officials in Kilis, southern Turkey, at 01:00 pm on 21 August 2012.

Anderson cooper and kelly ripa, anderson cooper and boyfriend Ben filmed together

Anderson cooper and kelly ripa, anderson cooper and boyfriend Ben filmed together, All forgiven? Anderson Cooper and boyfriend Ben spark reconciliation rumors as they are spotted at their home in NYC after they were filmed together in Croatia, Why let a simple thing like public infidelity ruin your relationship?

A video has been released proving that Anderson Cooper's partner Ben Maisani - who was photographed kissing another man in a New York public park recently - was on the Croatian vacation Cooper was alleged to have went on to get over his broken heart.

But it appears the news anchor is the forgiving type - either that or the video adds more fuel to the fire that the couple are in an open relationship. The couple joined in on the European destination last week. Bravo's Andy Cohen was already there and is believed to have flown out with Cooper a few days earlier.

Maisani and Cooper were also spotted earlier today leaving the Manhattan fire house the pair share. It had been reported that the news anchor had asked his partner to move out and had broken off the engagement after the cheating scandal.

Joan Mayo Neighbor Said She Called 911 Because She Wanted Cigarettes

Joan Mayo Neighbor Said She Called 911 Because She Wanted Cigarettes, Police arrested Joan Mayo in St. Cloud, Fla., after she called 911 six times but wouldn’t say why. She screamed obscenities at dispatchers and berated them, declaring the nature of her emergency was “none of your business.

Just send me a sergeant.” When responding officers warned her not to abuse the emergency number, she told them she had no regard for the 911 system and would call whenever she wanted to. Neighb

Ryan lochte the bachelor 750000

Ryan lochte the bachelor 750000, One of the stars of the 2012 London Olympics, swimmer Ryan Lochte, is interested in being more than just a famous swimmer who gains attention every four years.

Since the Olympics, Lochte has been on a whirlwind media tour and has been receiving plenty of acting offers from shows that are scrambling to improve their ratings. He will be making his acting debut on the show 90210 and has said that he will be competing on the next season of Dancing With the Stars.

The show that he is really interested in is ABC’s The Bachelor and if the network is serious about bringing him on the show they’re going to have to dig deep in their pocketbook. The gold-medal swimmer is asking for at least $750,000 to be the next single Bachelor getting to make out with 25 different girls and pretend to be in love with them. Ryan’s been very open about wanting to be the next star of The Bachelor, and his team has told producers that the number to just get everyone around the table would be $750,000, and that number could likely climb to $1 million very quickly if ABC is truly interested in him.

The Bachelor would be the perfect show for Lochte because even his mom said he doesn’t have time for anything more than one night stands and isn’t that what the show is really about? Here’s 25 different girls that are extremely attractive; now try and convince yourself that you’re in love with one of them and get married.

However, as much as he wants to do the show, he’s concerned about damaging his All-American image. He’s not sure how the show will portray him. I’m pretty sure that he would wreck that image within the first half-hour of the 2-hour season premiere and then be one of the most villainous reality stars of all time. I’m getting ahead of myself but anyone would tell you they are thinking the same thing.

Kristen Stewart Out And About In La

Kristen Stewart Out And About In La, Kristen Stewart, who has been out of the spotlight as former sweetie Robert Pattinson has been braving the media to promote “Cosmopolis,” stepped out Monday in L.A., snapped by paparazzi for the first time since her big breakup news.

PopSugar has photos of the star sporting a backward baseball cap and a midriff-baring t-shirt top. She was not smiling and did not appear happy about being photographed.

(Maybe she had just seen the new shirts that are being sold with the Will Ferrell-coined phrase: “Kristen Stewart is a Trampire.”)

While Pattinson and Stewart will not be attending four official upcoming “Twilight” conventions as fans as hoped, Stewart is expected to show up on a red carpet in Toronto next month to support her film, “On the Road.” Pattinson is due on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday.

Bachelor pad elimination shocker

Bachelor pad elimination shocker, We wonder at the moment if the producers behind “Bachelor Pad” are off somewhere pounding their heads against a wall after Monday night’s new episode. They obviously designed a new twist — having the eliminated female contestant decide who was going to join her out the door — as a way to create drama and stop a power alliance from just coasting to the end. However, who would have thought that this twist would save the token villain Chris Bukowski, and instead send fan favorite Michael Stagliano home at the hands of Erica Rose?

Considering that Michael had the rug pulled out from under him in his attempt to win the show for the second straight season, it would have been understandable if he was blasting Erica to the ends of the earth Tuesday. Instead, though, he is trying to keep it positive — just check out this new post on his Twitter for evidence:

“Trying to keep up. Love you guys back. I mean it. Got my hand caught in the cookie jar, all is well. Wasn’t there to win again anyway : )”

Michael said all season long that he was on the show to try and find love, and he does seem to have found something real with Rachel Truehart from Ben Flajnik’s season. Are they still together? That much is unclear, and the two are definitely doing a better job of keeping things quiet than Lindzi Cox and Kalon McMahon have when it comes to their unexpected relationship.

At the end of the day, we don’t really know where this season is going to go now. Michael was clearly the hero among the male contestants, and now we are more interested in just rooting for Rachel and her new partner Nick simply so that the two can pick up the pieces.

Lindsay lohan and burglary

Lindsay lohan and burglary, Lindsay Lohan has been accused of letting thieves into a Hollywood Hills home where she partied over the weekend, according to a new report.

Police were called to the multi-million dollar residence on Monday and apparently questioned the actress after jewellery was reported missing.

The 26-year old, who has not been named a suspect, has now been implicated by the owner of the home, who believes two men Lohan brought with her stole several expensive watches, the owner of the home, who has not been named, invited the actress to the all-night house party.

She is believed to have arrived with her brother Coy, her assistant and the two unnamed gentleman. The star is said to have left the residence at approximately noon on Monday after police questioning and had been 'very cooperative' with law enforcement officers.

Lohan reportedly denied having any involvement with the disappearance of the watches and a pair of sunglasses reported missing. the Los Angeles Police Department also also questioned other guests at the residence, spending three hours conducting the on-site investigation.

According to the website, the home is owned by a man described as 'a player on the Hollywood social scene' who 'likes to have famous friends'. The case remains under investigation.

However, this is not the first time Lindsay has been linked to jewellery theft.

Lindsay reportedly told law enforcement officers that she had nothing to do with the missing gems.

The actress was famously charged with shoplifting a necklace from a Venice jewellery store in February last year.

She was charged with misdemenour theft and probation violation, and was sentenced to 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service.

In addition, she was also ordered to remain under supervision whilst completing all of her community service.

The actress pleaded no contest in court, and was put under house arrest complete with ankle bracelet monitor due to jail overcrowding.

Lindsay was then later sentenced to 30 days in jail and 400 hours of community service in November, after she was found guilty of violating her probation because she failed to perform her community service at a Los Angeles morgue.

She entered jail on November 7, 2011, but was released after just under five hours, again due to overcrowding.

Pamela Reynolds boyfriend spoke with News Center 7 Monday and said he had taken some clothes off of the line and didn’t tell her

Pamela Reynolds boyfriend spoke with News Center 7 Monday and said he had taken some clothes off of the line and didn’t tell her, A 53-year-old woman with a history of abusing 911, was arrested again for making false alarms Sunday night. Pamela Reynolds has called 911 many times in the past to complain about her live-in boyfriend. She has been given a total of 10 prior 911 misuse citations, with the most recent warning coming on January 9 of this year.

She was previously arrested for abuse of the 911 system in January of 2010. On Sunday, her complaint was that someone had stolen her coat off of a clothes line.

Her boyfriend spoke with News Center 7 Monday and said he had taken some clothes off of the line and didn’t tell Reynolds. He attributed her behavior to a bad prescription and said he begged officers not to arrest her.

“I’m pretty sure it’s her medication,” he said. She was transported to the Montgomery County Jail where she was still being held on $2,500 bond Monday night.

Kristine Henning Had Prior Contact With Police For Misuse Of 911

Kristine Henning Had Prior Contact With Police For Misuse Of 911, On June 9th, 2012 at approximately 1:07pm, Madison Police were dispatched to multiple 911 disconnect calls in the 5300 block of Whitcomb Drive. The Dane County 911 Center narrowed the location of the call down to a specific address, and police contacted a Kristine Henning as a likely source of the calls. Henning had prior contacts with the Madison Police Department for her involvement in the misuse of the 911 system.

The numerous incidents in 2012 resulted in Henning being issued strict bail conditions to “Not to have any contact, direct or indirect with the 911 Center unless there’s a valid emergency”! There was also an additional condition to not consume alcohol as well.

Officers noted the odor of intoxicants emanating from Henning’s breath as they questioned whether a credible emergency existed to warrant police responding in an emergency mode. Henning verified with police that she knew she should not consume alcohol and/or not call 911 unless she had an emergency. Henning was taken into custody for the violation.

While it might not seem like a huge ordeal, police take 911 calls seriously and place themselves in danger to get to the location of the person making the call. Whether it is a medical emergency or criminal act that police need to respond to, the public should be reminded of the importance of this resource, and make sure this system is never used inappropriately. Its utilization should always be held with high regard.

Top Party Schools 2012

Top Party Schools 2012 - Top 2012 party schools ranked, Princeton Review has released its party school rankings for 2012 and it has Ohio University celebrating the fact that they are finally #1. Even though it is still 2011, Princeton Review likes to release the rankings in August to generate hype for its 2012 college guide book: The Best 376 Colleges.

The annual Princeton Review ratings are based on a survey of 122,000 students at 376 colleges. The ranking for Party Schools and Stone-Cold Sober Schools are based on students’ answers to questions concerning alcohol and drug use at the school, study time, and the popularity of the Greek system.

The top two party schools swapped spots this year from the last ranking with Ohio taking the title from Georgia (Fun Fact: both schools are located in a city called Athens). It’s no wonder Ohio is #1 after ranking tops in the "Lots of Beer" category and #2 in "Lots of Hard Liquor” as well.

Of course more and more are starting to question the methodology of the Princeton Review rankings and the rankings in general seem to be losing steam year after year.

College Binge Drinkers Happier Have High Status

College binge drinkers say they’re happier with their social lives than those who don’t indulge – but it’s probably the boost in social status, not the booze itself that lifts their mood, according to new research presented at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association. Binge drinking is a symbolic proxy for high status in college,” said study co-author Carolyn Hsu, an associate professor of sociology at Colgate University in a statement, noting that it’s what the wealthy, powerful and happy students on campus do.

The study found that rich white frat boys reported having the greatest social satisfaction at school and were considered the big men on campus by others. They were not only happier than students in low-status groups – women, minorities and people who were less financially well-off – but also more likely to binge drink. “Binge drinking then becomes associated with high status and the ‘cool’ students on campus,” said Hsu.

Low-status students in turn reported being happier if they binged than if they didn’t. Indeed, alcohol seemed to be the great social equalizer, bringing members of low-status groups to happiness levels similar to those of greater social power if they binged. “Students in all groups consistently liked college more when they participated in the campus’ binge drinking culture,” Hsu said. Since the study has not yet been subjected to peer review, its findings should be considered preliminary.

The research was conducted at a selective Northeastern liberal arts college in 2009, involving survey responses from 1,595 students, nearly 60% of the school’s student body. “Drinking culture is campus specific,” Hsu noted. “But our results suggest that binge drinking and social satisfaction may also be very much associated at similar predominantly white colleges with high binge drinking rates, a large Greek presence and a residential campus.”

Mary Strey, 49, of Granton was driving home from the bar around 11:28 p.m. on Saturday night when she called 911 to report a drunk driver. When the dispatcher asked Strey if she was following the drunk driver, she told police she was the drunk driver.

As she continued driving towards her home the dispatcher asked Mary to stop her vehicle on the side of the road and turn on her vehicle's flashers, which she did. Police found her parked on the side of the road.

Police gave Strey a field sobriety test. According to the criminal complaint Strey's speech was slurred, she stumbled, was swaying back and forth and could not perform the tests.

She was arrested on charges of drunk driving, first offense. Officers say Strey told them she had started drinking earlier in the day and had had seven or eight brandy and Cokes at different bars in Neilsville.

Nerissa thomas held without bond for misuse of 911

Nerissa thomas held without bond for misuse of 911, A Pompano Beach woman who authorities say has called 911 over 1,000 times in the past few months to yell obscene and racial remarks was arrested Tuesday.

Nerissa Thomas, 44, is facing 15 counts of misuse of 911, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office arrest report.

According to the report, over 100 calls were placed to 911 on March 20 from two cell phones registered to Thomas. When the caller stopped answering, the voice mail message gave Thomas' name, the report said.

The report said 15 calls to 911 were made on Monday from one of the phones registered to Thomas, and said she has called 911 at least 1,000 times in the last few months.

"The suspect calls yelling obscene, racial and inflammatory remarks," the report said.

Officers used a "cell phone trace locator" to narrow down the area where the calls were coming from, and left their business card with a property manager in the area to call police if they saw Thomas, the report said.

On Tuesday, authorities got a call that Thomas was in the apartment complex office and officers responded and took her into custody. She later admitted to making the 15 911 calls, the report said.

Thomas was being held Wednesday without bond. It was unknown whether she has an attorney.

Binge drinking effects on the brain

Binge drinking effects on the brain, Binge drinking affects brain memory, That old joke about going out drinking to kill a few brain cells may not be so funny any more.

Young people who binge drink could be risking serious damage to their brains now and increasing memory loss later in adulthood, according to new research. Adolescents may be even more vulnerable to brain damage from excessive drinking than older drinkers. Binge drinking or heavy episodic drinking is the modern epithet for drinking alcoholic beverages with the primary intention of becoming intoxicated by heavy consumption of alcohol over a short period of time. It is a kind of purposeful drinking style that is popular in several countries worldwide, and overlaps somewhat with social drinking since it is often done in groups. The degree of intoxication, however, varies between and within various cultures that engage in this practice. A binge on alcohol can occur over hours or last up to several days. Due to the long-term effects of alcohol misuse, binge drinking is considered to be a major public health issue.

Binge drinking is associated with a profound social harm, economic costs as well as increased disease burden. Binge drinking is more common in males, during adolescence and young adulthood. Most binge drinkers are not familiar with the risks associated with binge drinking. Heavy regular binge drinking is associated with adverse effects on neurologic, cardiac, gastrointestinal, hematologic, immune, musculoskeletal organ systems as well as increasing the risk of alcohol induced psychiatric disorders. A US-based review of the literature found that up to one third of adolescents binge drink, with six percent reaching the threshold of having an alcohol related substance use disorder. Approximately one in twenty five women binge drink during pregnancy, which can lead to fetal alcohol syndrome and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. Binge drinking during adolescence is associated with traffic accidents and other types of accidents, violent behavior as well as suicide. The more often a child or adolescent binge drinks and the younger they are the more likely that they will develop an alcohol use disorder including alcoholism. A large number of adolescents who binge drink also consume other psychotropic substances.

Binge drinking has the propensity to result in brain damage faster as well as more severely than chronic 'non stop' drinking (alcoholism), due to the neurotoxic effects of the repeated rebound withdrawal effects. The tolerance that occurs during chronic ('non-stop') drinking delays alcohol related brain damage compared to binge drinking which induces immediate and repeated insults to the brain. The neurotoxic insults to the brain are due to very large amounts of glutamate being released on a repeated basis which over-stimulates the brain after each binge finishes, resulting in excitotoxicity. The developing adolescent brain is thought to be particularly susceptible to the neurotoxic effects of binge drinking, with some evidence of brain damage occurring from drinking more than 4 or 5 drinks once or twice per month.

Prince william rescue

Prince william rescue, UK's Prince William helps save girl from drowning, Britain's Prince William has helped save a teenage girl who was in danger of drowning off the coast of Wales in his role as Royal Air Force search and rescue pilot.

The 16-year-old girl was caught in a rip current and rapidly losing strength when the alarm was raised Thursday, a statement from the RAF Search and Rescue Force said.

William, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, had just landed a Sea King helicopter nearby, after going out on a routine exercise, when the alert was radioed through. In less than a minute, he and the crew had reached the scene and a paramedic was winched down into the sea to assist the exhausted girl, who had just gone under water.

The paramedic, Master Aircrew "Harry" Harrison, is quoted as saying: "We never know what we'll face when we're called out. Sometimes it's just a twisted ankle or a broken bone, but this was one rescue where we truly did arrive in the nick of time and managed to save this young girl's life."

The girl and a younger friend, who was rescued by a surfer, had been body-boarding in Silver Bay, the statement said.

Both were airlifted to the hospital in Bangor, north Wales, for treatment. The 16-year-old girl told the air crew she had thought she would drown, the statement said.

Prince William, known to his RAF comrades as Flight Lt. Wales, has been stationed at a search-and-rescue base on the remote Welsh island of Anglesey since 2010, and lives there with Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Chad johnson sued 130000

Chad johnson sued 130000,Chad Johnson Sued for $130,000 Amid Foreclosure Debacle, Chad Johnson has reportedly been hit with another lawsuit, this time by a former employee who claims that the unemployed NFL player owes him for unpaid services. Jacinth Preston recently filed a lawsuit in Broward County, Florida against the troubled 34-year-old, alleging that he has not paid him for managing services at his Florida home including "cleaners, landscaping, (and) decorating," according to new reports.

Preston has requested $130,000 in compensation to cover his salary, landscaping, and cleaning, among other things, according to Yahoo UK.

The lawsuit reports come just days after it was revealed that Johnson, who was recently terminated by the Miami Dolphins, is facing foreclosure on his Miami, FL. home because he allegedly owes at least $28,000 in back payments.

Things appear to be getting worse for Johnson, who was recently slapped with divorce papers as well as domestic assault charges after allegedly head butting his estranged wife, Evelyn Lozada, during a dispute.

Lozada, 37, filed for divorce from Johnson after just 40 days of marriage over the incident despite reports that he is desperate to salvage the marriage. The "Basketball Wives" star recently released her first public statement regarding the incident in which she slammed Johnson for allegedly lying to police about what occurred and suggesting that she was the aggressor.

"I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me," Lozada told TMZ.com. "It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well."

The pair could potentially be sued for approximately $90,000 by the St. Maarten government after allegedly breaching a wedding contract.

Chad johnson headbutt

Chad johnson headbutt, chad ochocinco arrested for head butting evelyn lozada appears in court, Chad Ochocinco, who married “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada only a month ago, was arrested at his home on Saturday on charges of domestic violence, according to the police in Davie, Florida.

The football player and “Dancing with the Stars” alum allegedly head-butted Lozada during what police termed a “pretty heated” argument after she found a receipt for a box of condoms.

“She has a pretty good-sized laceration on her forehead,” said Davie Police Capt. Dale Engle. Evelyn Lozada, reality star and wife to Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, has alleged that Johnson head butted her during an argument in front of their home in Florida. The altercation occurred just five weeks into their marriage, on the evening of August 11, 2012. Lozada suffered a 3″ laceration on her forehead as a result of the assault. She was transported to the hospital, treated and released. Johnson was arrested and charged with simple domestic battery.

The altercation has been reported as being a result of Lozada’s discovery of a receipt for condoms in Johnson’s car.

Johnson told Broward County police that the head butt was accidentally rendered by Lozada during a physical exchange between the two. After sustaining the injury, Lozada ran to a neighbor’s home for refuge.

Johnson was released on $2,500 bond. He was expected to be in court today, August 13, 2012, to answer to the charge of simply domestic battery.

Johnson was already in hot water with Miami Dolphins’ head coach, Joe Philbin. Johnson had been told by Philbin that Johnson’s roster spot could be in trouble because of his behavior. Philbin was annoyed by Johnson’s frequent use of profanity during a session with reporters.

Philbin’s response to Johnson’s arrest was direct and succinct.

“We’re going to deal with this. We’re not going to waste time. … We’re all in this thing together. Everybody that sets foot in this building, we’re all held to a high standard.” ~Joe Philbin, Miami Dolphin’s head coach.

After being released from jail on Sunday, August 12, 2012, Johnson’s contract with the Miami Dolphins was revoked. When he was fired from the Miami Dolphins, he was also removed from the HBO reality series, “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Miami Dolphins”.

Today, Monday, August 13, 2012, VH1 announced that the reality show, “Ev & Ocho”, which had been scheduled to premiere on September 3, 2012, was cancelled.

“Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series “Ev & Ocho” from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it.”~Statement released by VH1.

Atlanta, what is your take on the situation? Do you think that the consequences that are being doled out to Johnson are not enough, justified or overboard? Who do you think will be willing to take a chance with Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson for their NFL team? What do you think is next for Chad Johnson?

Evelyn Lozada Says Marriage Irretrievably Broken, Evelyn Lozada says her marriage has been “irretrievably broken, TMZ is reporting Evelyn Lozada filed for divorce from Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson this afternoon in Florida.

It been a month of highs and lows for Chad here recently... getting the gig with the Dolphins, getting married to Evelyn, going to jail for domestic abuse, being cut from the Dolphins and now his wife has filed for a divorce. GEEZ!

This guy might be somewhere crying right now. I really hope Chad gets back on his feet but this is a lot for anybody to come back from.

Lozada just filed the papers this afternoon in Florida, claiming her marriage is “irretrievably broken.”

The divorce comes shortly after the NFL receiver was charged with domestic battering for allegedly head-butting and hitting Lozada during an argument.

Lozado and Johnson were married on July 4th in St. Maarten. The ceremony was recorded for a VH1 reality show that has since been canceled.

Delaware daycare video fight

Delaware daycare video fight, 3 delaware daycare employees accused Of encouraging toddlers to fight released, Three Delaware day care employees have been accused of encouraging toddlers to fight each other while the children were under their care. The three daycare employees who were arrested on Monday for allegedly watching and encouraging toddlers to fight each other were released Tuesday afternoon on $10,000 bail.

On Monday, three employees from the Hands of Our Future Daycare in Delaware were arrested after a cell phone video showed employees watching and encouraging two 3-year-olds fight each other.

Tiana Harris, 19, Lisa Parker, 47, and Estefania Myers, 21, were charged with Assault, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Reckless Endangering and Conspiracy for the incident, which occurred in March of 2012 and was captured on cell phone video. In the video, police say one child can be heard crying and yelling, ‘He’s pinching me,’ while a daycare worker responds, ‘No pinching, only punching.’”

“Clearly one of the children is crying and does not want to continue on and he is pushed back into the fray by one of the adults,” Dover Police Captain Tim Stump said.

Cristyl Slack says her four-year-old daughter was in the room when the fight happened in March.

“That pissed me off just because I feel if my daughter is around anything I should have known that day,” Slack said.

The fight video is not being shown to parents or the public because police say it is evidence.

“I can’t ever believe in a million years. I mean I would have to see the proof to believe it,” parent Amy Bickling said.

Hands of Our Future Daycare, located at 868 S. State St., has had its City of Dover Business License suspended pending a hearing.

The Dover Police Department arranged for a meeting Monday night for parents or legal guardians of the daycare’s children to answer questions and help parents find new daycare arrangements.

Hands Of Our Future Day Care

Hands Of Our Future Day Care, Hands Of Our Future Day Care In Delaware Has License Suspended After Workers Allegedly Encouraged Kids To Fight, City of Dover officials closed down the Hands of Our Future Daycare in south Dover Monday morning in the wake three employees arrested by Dover Police for encouraging 3-year-old boys in their care to fight. An investigation by Dover PD’s Criminal Investigation Unit led to the arrests of three women after detectives viewed cell phone video of an incident that occurred in March of 2012 where the three female employees watched and encouraged two 3-year-olds to fight each other while at the daycare, Dover Police Capt. Tim Stump said Monday afternoon.

Tiana Harris, 19, of Dover; Estefania Myers, 21, of Felton and Lisa Parker, 47, of Dover, were each charged with two counts of assault in the second degree, nine counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of reckless endangering in the second degree and one count of conspiracy, Stump said.

A Dover police officer found the video of children being encouraged and even forced to fight on the cell phone of Harris this past weekend while he was investigating an unrelated criminal compliant, Stump said. The officer turned the video over to detectives.

“[Detectives] viewed the video and the investigation went from there,” Stump said.

“In 23 years, this is definitely one of the most shocking and infuriating videos that I’ve seen,” he added. “We entrust these people tot take care of our children. When parents drop their children off, they expect t that their kids will be looked after. This certainly was not the case here.”

Conspiracy crime

Conspiracy crime, In criminal law, a conspiracy is an agreement between two or more persons to break the law at some time in the future. Criminal law in some countries or for some conspiracies may require that at least one overt act must also have been undertaken in furtherance of that agreement, to constitute an offense. There is no limit on the number participating in the conspiracy and, in most countries, no requirement that any steps have been taken to put the plan into effect (compare attempts which require proximity to the full offence). For the purposes of concurrence, the actus reus is a continuing one and parties may join the plot later and incur joint liability and conspiracy can be charged where the co-conspirators have been acquitted or cannot be traced.

Finally, repentance by one or more parties does not affect liability but may reduce their sentence. At common law, the crime of conspiracy was capable of infinite growth, able to accommodate any new situation and to criminalize it if the level of threat to society was sufficiently great. The courts were therefore acting in the role of the legislature to create new offences and, following the Law Commission Report No. 76 on "Reform of the Common Law", the Criminal Law Act 1977 produced a statutory offence and abolished all the common law varieties of conspiracy, except two, Conspiracy to corrupt public morals or to outrage public decency

Conspiracy to corrupt public morals is an offence under the common law of England and Wales.

Conspiracy to outrage public decency is an offence under the common law of England and Wales.

Section 5(1) of the Criminal Law Act 1977 does not affect the common law offence of conspiracy if, and in so far as, it can be committed by entering into an agreement to engage in conduct which tends to corrupt public morals, or which outrages public decency, but which does not amount to or involve the commission of an offence if carried out by a single person otherwise than in pursuance of an agreement.

Jonathan Herring said that conspiracy to "corrupt public morals" has no definitive case law, that it is unknown whether or not it is a substantive offence, and that it is unlikely that conspirators will be prosecuted for this offence.

These two offences cover situations where, for example, a publisher encourages immoral behavior through explicit content in a magazine or periodical. But, in R v Rowley [1991] 4 All ER 649, the defendant left notes in public places over a period of three weeks offering money and presents to boys with the intention of luring them for immoral purposes, but there was nothing lewd, obscene or disgusting in the notes. The judge ruled that the jury was entitled to look at the purpose behind the notes in deciding whether they were lewd or disgusting. On appeal against conviction, it was held that an act outraging public decency required a deliberate act which was in itself lewd, obscene or disgusting, so Rowley’s motive in leaving the notes was irrelevant and, since there was nothing in the notes themselves capable of outraging public decency, the conviction was quashed.

Toddler Bus Stop Family

Toddler Bus Stop Family, Police Search For Family After Toddler Abandoned At Detroit Bus Stop, A 21-month-old girl left at a Detroit bus stop Monday afternoon has been reunited with her family. The girl’s mother and aunt contacted Detroit Police after the girl’s photo appeared in the news Monday night, said Sgt. Richard Knox of the Detroit Police Child Abuse Unit. The child recognized her mother and aunt when they arrived at the police station.

“She just hugged the aunt and fell into her arms,” Knox said. “When the mom walked into room, she said ‘Mom, mom.’”

Police said the girl’s father was caring for the child Monday . Her mother didn’t realize she was missing until she received a call from a family member who recognized the child from news reports.

Why the child was left at a bus stop at Van Dyke and Nevada remains a mystery. Children’s Protective Services will investigate, Knox said.

Police said a man walked away from the bus stop Monday leaving the little girl behind. Police are investigating whether the man was her father. Another person at the bus stop took her to Perfecting Church nearby and called police.

The little girl knew how to wave and could say “hi” and “thank you,” but she didn’t know her mother’s name and wasn’t old enough to give police any clues about her family.

“That little girl is great,” Knox said. “She ate all my potato chips.” They describe the little girl as very mild-mannered.

Detroit police say a man was standing at a bus stop on East Nevada near Van Dyke, when another man approached with the little girl. The man then walked away, and left the child.

The girl is now in police custody, and this incident is being handled by the Detroit Police Department’s Child Abuse Squad.

The little girl is approximately 18-24 months old, wearing a pink flowered tank top, dark blue jeans, and sparkled pink canvas shoes.

Detroit police say they are searching for the girls’ family. If you have any information about the girl or the man who left her at the bus station you are asked to call Detroit police.

Day care workers accused of running toddler fight club

Day care workers accused of running toddler fight club, day care fight club, Three Delaware day care employees have been accused of encouraging toddlers to fight each other while the children were under their care.

CBS Philly reported that Tiana Harris, 19, Lisa Parker, 47, and Estefania Myers, 21, employees of the Hands of Our Future Daycare in Dover, were arrested after a cellphone video emerged of them allegedly encouraging two 3-year-olds to fight in an organized battle.

Police said in the video one child is heard yelling, "He’s pinching me!" A day care worker allegedly responded, "No pinching, only punching."

"It was a difficult video to watch," Dover Police Capt. Tim Stump told FoxNews.com. "One of the kids involved ran over to one of the adults for protection, but she turned him around back into the fight." The video was taken in March, Stump said. Two of the suspects could be seen encouraging the fight, while the other filmed it with her cellphone camera, he said.

Stump said neither of the toddlers suffered serious injuries, but said it was "painfully clear that they were hurting each other."

"The bottom line is that the kids were whaling on each other and the adults were doing nothing to stop it," Stump said. "In fact, they were egging it on."

Parents of day care students went to a meeting Monday and were informed about the alleged video. Stump said the parents voiced concern, but commended them for their composure.

Ryan Lochte Nude Photo

Ryan Lochte Nude Photo - Nude Ryan Lochte pic being shopped, There are reports that someone is looking to sell a nude photo of Olympic swimming champ Ryan Lochte, 28. The picture was supposedly taken by Lochte and sent to a girl he was seeing in college . The photo, however, apparently does not show his face.

We guess the world is going to see what little his speedo has left to the imagination! Or maybe it’s not so little after all! Ha!

That’s right, PerezHilton.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned that someone is reportedly shopping around a nude photo of Ryan Lochte, which the Olympic swimmer is said to have sent to a former girlfriend in college!

And although you can’t see his face in the FULL-FRONTAL shot, pretty much everyone will be able to recognize his body now that it was broadcast all over the world during the games…AND you can even see the tan line from his speedo!

Okay, yeah. We’re not gonna lie:

THIS SOUNDS HAWT! LOLz!

And hey!

If he’s going to force the phrase “Jeah!” upon us all, we think it’s a fair trade to get to see his, ahem, ‘medal!’

Lochte Finishes Olympics Five Medals

Lochte Finishes Olympics Five Medals, Ryan Lochte said all along that 2012 was his year. He was ready to win more gold medals than Michael Phelps, which would include beating him in their two head-to-head matchups at the Olympics. Lochte’s meet ended Thursday night with five medals. The breakdown: Two gold, two silver and one bronze. Phelps, who still has two races left, also has five medals and his total breaks down the same. They split their two races together, with Phelps winning the 200m IM and Lochte claiming the 400m IM. Ryan Lochte took every question with good humor, smiling easily, spinning all of his comments positive. He had clowned around on the medal stand with Michael Phelps, even after missing gold medals in his night’s two individual races. He looked forward to having a birthday Friday — Lochte turns 28 — with no events to swim, for a change. “I’m done,” Lochte said with a grin to reporters. “I’m happy.”

As Phelps reveled in his second gold of the meet and U.S. breaststroker Rebecca Soni enjoyed a world record and gold medal in the 200-meter breaststroke, Lochte finished his Olympic Games on Thursday determined to be upbeat, focusing on the number of medals he won, not their color.

Just more than an hour before, he had finished second to Phelps in his last event of these Games, the 200-meter individual medley, touching the wall in 1 minute 54.90 seconds to Phelps’s 1:54.27.

Thirty minutes before that, he got passed in the homestretch of the 200 backstroke, an event in which he had been reigning Olympic and world champion, by U.S. teammate Tyler Clary, who claimed a surprising gold in 1:53.41, and Japan’s Ryosuke Irie, who got silver in 1:53.78. Lochte got the bronze in 1:53.94.

“You always have big dreams in your head,” Clary said. “You hope you might pull off something like that. It has not even processed in my mind yet.”

Lochte, too, seemed unable to process what had occurred. He left the Aquatic Center with an impressive haul: two gold medals, two silvers and one bronze.

Yet that fell far from the six golds he sought. “A little bit above average,” he called it.

The Games’ biggest cover boy failed to live up to the hype, failed to live up even to his own bold predictions last week. He left London as he left Beijing in 2008: playing second fiddle to Phelps, who has won two golds and two silvers and has shots at two more medals.

“Whenever I step out on the blocks, obviously I always want to win,” Lochte said. “Sometimes you have it, sometimes you don’t. I can’t be too disappointed. I am coming home to my country with five Olympic medals.”

Ryan Lochte Bachelor $750000

Ryan Lochte Bachelor $750000, One of the stars of the 2012 London Olympics, swimmer Ryan Lochte, is interested in being more than just a famous swimmer who gains attention every four years.

Day Care Fight Club

Day Care Fight Club - Day care workers accused of running toddler fight club, Police in Delaware arrested three day care workers after getting reports that they were encouraging kids to fight each other. Officers say the alleged toddler fight club happened in March and the day care is now suspended. All three workers have been charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Three Delaware day care employees have been accused of encouraging toddlers to fight each other while the children were under their care.

"One of the kids involved ran over to one of the adults for protection, but she turned him around back into the fight."

The video was taken in March, Stump said.

"It's very disturbing to think anything like that could go on," Amy Bickerling, whose 4-year-old son is enrolled at the center, told Delaware Online. "I know these teachers. I go on all the field trips. I've never seen anything irregular."

Stump said a full investigation is under way. There is no evidence yet to suggest these fights occurred more than once, but authorities will be conducting interviews with some of the students, he said.

He called the suspects "cooperative" and said they posted $10,000 bond.
The three women were charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangering and conspiracy.

Fall TV Shows 2012

Fall TV Shows 2012 - In just a few weeks, your favorite TV shows plus several new series will be back on the new primetime lineup starting just after Labor Day.

The five major broadcast networks tend to add their new programming in the middle of the week on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, more than other nights of the week. What’s the reason?

First, they aren’t willing to risk the bigger audiences watching on Sunday and Monday nights changing the channel. But later in the week, advertisers look for solid audience ratings for commercials about new movies, restaurants, and big weekend sales. They need to have assurances the networks can deliver those Thursday night audiences, especially in predictable demographics. So networks won’t try out new shows on Thursday, although they will move favorite shows from other nights over. More on that in our column tomorrow.

So TV Den runs down your Fall 2012 schedule, and provides our brief preview of the new shows airing on what we call the “Tuesday Tryouts.” The only network not adding a new show tonight is ABC. The debut date for new episodes of both new and returning series are provided after each show.

Tuesday’s new shows are:

Ben and Kate – FOX, 8:30 p.m.
Premieres: Tuesday, September 25

Goofy doofy Ben (played by Oscar winner Nat Faxon moves in with his sister, single mom Kate (Dakota Johnson), to take care of her daughter. Hilarity ensues. The Ben character is supposedly based on the brother of the series creator, Dana Fox, who says he is a “Ferris Bueller” type (her brother, not Ben).

The Mindy Project – Fox, 9:30 p.m.
Premieres: Tuesday, September 25

With “New Girl” as the bridge that FOX hopes will keep viewers all night, this second new series is being described as an Americanized Bridget Jones’ Diary. Creator Mindy Kaling also stars as Mindy, a single woman finding career success but suffering relationship woes. Mindy is a gynecologist, which starts us with the eye rolling, except that Kaling’s own mother is a gynecologist. Kaling has to keep a lot of balls (ahem) in the air, and if she can do it this show could be a winner.

Emily Owens, M.D. – CW, 9 p.m.
Premieres: Tuesday, October 16

Medical school graduate Owens finds out that life in a hospital isn’t so different from high school. just loves playing doctor. If you think acress Mamie Gummer looks a lot like Meryl Streep, you’ve got a good eye. She is Meryl Streep’s eldest daughter. Think we will see a guest star appearance by Mom? She better make it soon.

Go On – NBC, 9 p.m.
Premieres: Tuesday, September 11

If you watched the London Olympics on NBC, you saw the promos featuring Matthew Perry as a sportscaster who joins a grief support group when his wife dies (although the commercials didn’t really explain that part). A grab bag of character types are thrown together. Hilarity ensues. If the producers put the best parts of the series into the promos, this show’s future is far from assured.

NBC hopes the new comedy The New Normal will produce better than normal ratings. Photo: NBC.

The New Normal – NBC, 9:30 p.m.
Premieres: Tuesday, September 11

A gay couple hire a single mom struggling to make ends meet for herself and her daughter to be a surrogate mom, much to the dismay of Grandma and several other people involved. Complications and hilarity ensure. The group One Million Moms made the series the first of fall 2012 to be boycotted. Reason enought to watch right there.

Vegas – CBS, 10 p.m.
Premieres: Tuesday, September 25

A Western period drama set in the sixties – that’s the 1960s, not the 1860s. Actor Dennis Quad stars as Las Vegas Sheriff Ralph Lamb, a real life character who went up against the mob. Joining the powerful cast is Michael Chiklis as the gangster in question, along with Carrie-Anne Moss and Sarah Jones. Chiklis and Quaid make this series worth a look.

Pay Cut for Jay Leno as Layoffs Hit ‘Tonight Show’

Pay Cut for Jay Leno as Layoffs Hit ‘Tonight Show’ - Jay Leno cuts own pay amid 'Tonight Show' layoffs, reports say, "The Tonight Show" has laid off about two dozen workers, prompting host Jay Leno to accept a pay cut to spare other staffers as NBC clamps down on expenses.

NBC Universal imposed the cutbacks Friday, Aug. 17, according to a person familiar with the moves. The person asked not to be identified because NBC Universal hadn't officially disclosed the cost cutting.

The payroll purge affected about 10 percent of the roughly 200 people who work on "The Tonight Show," still the top-rated late-night program. Viewers shouldn't notice any changes in programming at "The Tonight Show," the person said.

NBC Universal is trying to improve its financial performance under the ownership of Comcast Corp., which bought the entertainment company last year.

Leno had been making between $25 million to $30 million annually as the host of "The Tonight Show." His salary will be reduced to about $20 million after making the job-saving concessions. Leno also brings in substantial income touring as a stand-up comedian.

"Jay's foremost concern is for the wonderful people who work with him at 'The Tonight Show,'" said Bruce Bobbins, a spokesman for Leno. "He did what was necessary to ensure their well-being."

Several other staffers on "The Tonight Show" also absorbed pay cuts.

David Letterman, the host of a rival late-night show on CBS, accepted a significant pay cut in 2009.

The show's cost-cutting measures were first reported by Deadline Hollywood, a website that tracks the entertainment industry.
Comcast bought a controlling interest in NBC Universal for $6.2 billion in cash and several cable-TV channels valued at $7.25 billion. Besides its TV network and several cable channels, NBC also owns the Universal Pictures movie studio and theme parks.

Comcast, which is based in Philadelphia, makes most of its money selling cable TV and high-speed Internet access.

Despite its solid ratings, "The Tonight Show" hasn't been a big moneymaker. That prompted the cuts Friday, which are expected to trim the program's weekly budget by about $600,000, or 25 percent, to $1.7 million. That's back to its levels of a few years ago.

Leno outmaneuvered Letterman to succeed Johnny Carson as "The Tonight Show" host in 1992 and remained in one of television's most sought-after jobs for the next 17 years. At NBC's behest, he left the show in 2009 and was replaced by Conan O'Brien. After a few months hosting his own show in an earlier time slot, Leno returned as "The Tonight Show" host in 2010 in a decision that provoked a nasty fight between O'Brien and NBC.

O'Brien now hosts a late-night talk show on TBS

During Leno's brief stint hosting his prime-time program, his show's weekly budget escalated and wasn't reduced significantly to reflect his return to the late-night slot until now.

Kelly Ripa's New Co-Host to Start Sept. 4

Kelly Ripa's New Co-Host to Start Sept. 4 - After months of speculation, Kelly Ripa will finally announce her new co-host on LIVE! with Kelly on September 4.
Since longtime host Regis Philbin's departure last November, 59 different celebrities have co-hosted the show with Kelly, and one has been chosen for the coveted morning position. Past co-hosts have included Anderson Cooper, Nick Lachey and Josh Groban.

In July, rumors intensified that Saturday Night Live's Seth Meyers was the frontrunner as Philbin's replacement, though he shot down the talk in an interview with The Orlando Sun-Sentinal.
"I know [Regis's replacement] is a very important thing down there. But, right now, what I would say to you: I'm really in love with the job I have. I'm very excited to be going back [to SNL] for the election season, which is always fun," he said.

The new season of LIVE! with Kelly kicks off September 3, with Kelly acting as a solo host for the first show, and the following day marking the first day of the new co-host. The September 4 guests will be Claire Danes and American Idol winner Phillip Phillips.

Kelly Ripa & Family

Kelly Ripa & Family - Mom-of-three Kelly Ripa is hosting her popular talk show from Hawaii this week. And the 41-year-old TV star was seen hitting the beach in Oahu with her husband Mark Consuelos and their sons Michael, 14, and Joaquin, 9, after Monday’s show (February 20). Kelly and Mark’s 10-year-old daughter Lola was not spotted with the group.

Dressed in a gorgeous green sarong, Kelly appeared happy and relaxed as she soaked in the sun with her favorite guys.

The funnylady has been spotted enjoying the sand and surf on and off set over the past week. “This is heaven on earth,” the blonde beauty recently tweeted from the Aloha state.

How does she keep that svelte figure? “I work out every day,” Kelly recently revealed. “It’s part of my life. That’s one of the benefits of having kids in school full-time. I’m usually done with work around 11 A.M., so I have time before I pick the kids up from school.”

'Live! With Kelly' Co-Host Debuts In September

'Live! With Kelly' Co-Host Debuts In September - Live! With Kelly will announce Kelly Ripa's full-time co-host on Sept. 4 after months of rotating guest hosts following the departure of Regis Philbin.

Since Philbin's exit last November, Ripa has been holding down the fort with 59 different temporary hosts, starting with Jerry Seinfeld's week-long stint. Others who have sat next to Ripa have included Seth Meyers, Joel McHale, Michael Strahan, Anderson Cooper, Cat Deeley and Josh Groban.

The new co-host will be one of the 59 people who has co-hosted with Ripa.
There had been speculation that Meyers was a frontrunner for the permanent gig, though the Saturday Night Live head writer denied it. “No, no, no, no, no,” he said in July in response to the rumors to a Florida paper.
Ripa will host the Sept. 3 show solo, the first time she will be leading the morning talker alone. The first show with the new co-host will have Claire Danes and Phillip Phillips as guests.

Kelly Ripa 59 Guests Hosts

Kelly Ripa 59 Guests Hosts - The producers of “Live! With Kelly” say a new co-host will be revealed on the show Sept. 4. Disney-ABC Domestic Television said Monday that Kelly Ripa will officially announce her new partner as he or she joins her on stage that morning.

By then, Ripa will have welcomed 59 guest co-hosts since Regis Philbin retired from the show last November. The company says the chosen one will come from that large pack. The day before the big revelation, Ripa will host the show solo for the first time.

Philbin, who created the show, exited at age 80 after presiding more than 28 years alongside several co-hosts. Ripa became his on-air partner in 2001.

West Nile Virus Outbreak

West Nile Virus Outbreak - West Nile virus has hit Dallas County, Texas, hard this year. Officials there have declared a state of emergency against the mosquito-borne illness. For the first time in decades, they plan to begin aerial spraying to control the mosquito population.

And health officials around the country are raising warnings about West Nile Virus. The U.S. is seeing the worst outbreak of the mosquito-borne illness since it was first detected in 1999. So far this year, 26 people have died, and about half of the country's 700 cases are in Texas - most of them in Dallas County. This week, for the first time in almost half a century, the county will begin aerial spraying to kill mosquitoes. B.J. Austin of member station KERA has the story.

B.J. AUSTIN, BYLINE: Snider Plaza is a busy shopping area in University Park, an affluent north Dallas neighborhood that includes Southern Methodist University and the soon-to-open George W. Bush Presidential Library. People here are worried about the escalating number of West Nile Virus cases. Store owner Sebastian Ahmadi says bring on the planes and get rid of the infected mosquitoes.

SEBASTIAN AHMADI: I look forward to it. Anything to prevent from anything, you know, to cause diseases or a hazard to people's health I think is the right thing to do.

AUSTIN: But shopper Robert Bergance is not so sure about the plan to strafe his neighborhood with pesticide.

ROBERT BERGANCE: My concerns are my pets. And we have some owls that live in our backyard, and I am concerned about them. What effect is that going to have on them?

AUSTIN: In Dallas County, 10 people have died, more than double the previous record. But health officials urge caution. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most people who are bitten by infected mosquitoes - about 80 percent - show no symptoms and don't get sick. Less than 1 percent die or end up paralyzed or with encephalitis or meningitis. The commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, Dr. David Lakey, says this is a public health emergency.

DAVID LAKEY: Right now, Texas has half the West Nile cases in the nation. Dallas County has half the cases in the state of Texas. So about a quarter of all the cases in the United States are in this county. And so this isn't business as usual.

AUSTIN: Health officials say a record drought then a mild winter and a wet spring have produced a bumper crop of mosquitoes now. What they don't know is why so many mosquitoes are infected with West Nile Virus. Lakey acknowledged opposition to the airborne attack, especially since the mosquito population bounces back after two weeks.

Still, he says, aerial spraying has proven effective and is used elsewhere, including Florida, Massachusetts and California. Last week, Dallas County declared an emergency and asked the state for airplanes because ground spraying wasn't working well enough. At a meeting Tuesday, Dallas County commissioners heard opposition to the spraying from people concerned that the pesticide kills bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects. But Gretchen Brasch tearfully made her case for it. She was diagnosed with West Nile three weeks ago, and is slowly recovering.

GRETCHEN BRASCH: We have a very serious, escalating problem that is affecting human health in this city. So please just think about the people. I'd look at the people more than anything else on this.

AUSTIN: Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings says aerial spraying is the right thing to do. He says there can't be any more deaths because action was not taken at this point. The aerial spraying is to begin soon, weather permitting. Planes will fly about 300 feet over Dallas and the surrounding suburbs where mayors have declared public health emergencies and war on mosquitoes from the air. For NPR News, I'm B.J. Austin, in Dallas.

Walnuts Sperm Count

Walnuts Sperm Count - Eating walnuts may help increase sperm count in men and improve its quality, a new study has found. Scientists at the University of California asked a group of young men in their 20s and 30s to eat 75 grams of walnuts every day for three months. The research found that men managed to increase their sperm count and its quality, potentially giving them a better chance of fathering a child, compared with a group of men who avoided walnuts. Researchers chose walnuts because they are a major source of “good” polyunsaturated fats, the Daily Mail reported.

Walnuts are rich in omega 3 and omega 6 – also found in oily fish – which are thought to be good for sperm development and function but are lacking in many Western diets. One in six couples struggle to conceive, and it is thought around 40 per cent of these problems are due to problems with the man’s sperm. Professor Wendie Robbins, of UCLA’s School of Public Health, said as the 117 volunteers were healthy non-smokers, it was not clear that walnuts would help with fertility problems, but it had a positive effect.

The researchers analysed the men’s sperm concentration, how strongly they swam and their genetic makeup. Those eating walnuts saw a modest three per cent average increase in sperm swimming, compared with no increase in the group who did not eat walnuts. Only few walnut eaters were seen with aneuploidy – a disorder where sperm have too many or too few chromosomes. Allan Pacey, a fertility expert at the University of Sheffield, said the study found only a ‘quite modest’ increase in sperm count.
